The rain struck the cabin's roof violently, reminding the sixteen year old girl sitting on her bed of the thunder storm outside. Normally Sarah was much too busy for just bumming around. And even when she had free time, it was either too dark to go to the pool, or she was too tired. That's not to say her bathing suit never got a good workout; on the contrary, Sarah was almost constantly canoing, sailing, kayaking, or lifeguarding the lake. But she rarely came by the pool, if only for a minute, let alone for a whole day. And that was why it was surprising that she had been doing just that - lounging by the pool. Sarah was still in one of her seldom-used bikinis, with a big, ridiculous looking sun hat perched precariously on top of her head. Next to her was her beach bag, spilling its contents dejectedly all over her bedspread. A pair of oversized sunglasses were on the ground, as if their owner had flung the aside in disgust.
BOOM. A crack of thunder echoed in her skull. It was Saturday, and Sarah's kayaking trip had been canceled because of leaky kayaks. So, she had mused, why not spend a day by the pool? After stuffing a beach bag with magazines, sunscreen, sunglasses, a towel, her iPod, and her hairbrush, Sarah had set off to the pool. It wasn't very busy, and she had had no problem finding a nice beach chair. The sixteen year old was wondering whether she should go in or not, and what SPF really meant, when a strong wind picked up. At first she paid no attention, but when the wind flipped to an article on Angelina Jolie, and she was still reading about J. Lo, Sarah grabbed onto her hat. Annoyed, she stuffed the magazine into her beach bag, worrying that it would get too cold for a swim. And then the first crack of thunder was heard.
After being herded out of the pool area by counselors who really couldn't care less about the campers' safety, but more about their paycheck, Sarah went on her grumbling way back to the cabin. That was where she was now; sitting dejectedly on her bed, looking reminiscently at her sun hat. "It's just my luck, isn't it?" she muttered, with a humorless chuckle.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

never again, and never again, they gave us two shots to the back of the head. BANG. Jenna startled up into a sitting position. She had been sleeping until approximately 25 seconds ago. The storm that had started earlier in the day had grown more violent, so Jenna decided to sleep it off. But it apparently hadn't quit. She sat up a little straighter, pulling her blanket around her shoulders, as it had grown insanely cold while she slept. She shivered, brushing her hair out of her face. "Holy shit it's cold." She murmured to herself, as she had no idea anyone else was in the cabin.
She was in the process of rubbing her eyes when she heard a voice from the other side of the cabin. "Woahh. Who's here?" She peered across the cabin, to spot Sarah. She wasn't total besties with the girl, but she seemed cool enough. "Oh. Hey Sarah. What's your luck?" She giggled, as she had realized it as soon as she spoke the words.
"Oh, the storm, right? Yeah, it looked earlier like a great day for swimming." She yawned a little, standing up and walking across the bunk to Sarah's bed, her bare feet padding on the wood and her blanket trailing on the floor.
She reached the other girl and plopped down on the bed next to her, smiling a little and yawning once more. "Hiiiii."

gotta suck it up and take the heat, 'cuz we ain't in girl scouts anymore
[/center] Sarah jumped as Jenna woke up. Trying to think of an excuse for being dressed in only a sun hat and a bikini in the middle of a thunderstorm, she let Jenna answer herself. It was only when her friend plopped down right beside her did Sarah nod. "Yeah.. I suppose everyone else is in the rec room, or something.. It's kind of weird having our cabin be this quiet, you know?" She wasn't going to dwell on what a bummer this day had turned out to be; it might lead to more frustration. And that would lead to trouble. And that would mean not coming back next year. Oh, but it was so frustrating! "If it weren't thundering, I would probably still be out there right now, rain or no rain." She mused. Today was supposed to be her relaxation pool day, and damn it if she didn't get to relax. "Think we should have our own party?" It would be a party lacking some essential features (boys, drinks, a population of more than three), but it beat the heck out of moping.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]
