Reid avoided looking at Caleb as he stood at all costs; he looked at the ground, the rocks that littered the tree’s roots, he looked at the tree trunk itself, the crooked, carved bark creating symbols that seemed to try to tell him something-- it was all his imagination, of course, because it was only campers from the past years carving them and their probably former lover’s name into the thick, maple-stained bark. It made him want to laugh. Feelings changed, what good is it to carve your names into a tree? Like that’s going to stop feelings from changing-- the writing on a silly little piece of bark had no power compared to the power of the heart. And fuck, if only Reid had thought more into that before. If he carved into the bark the fact that Caleb had no real feelings for him-- no sober feelings for him-- it doesn’t necessarily make it true. And now he’s made Caleb feel worthless and Reid knows that’s the worst feeling in the world-- right beside the guilt he’s currently experiencing, that is.
“I didn’t mean it like that.” Reid’s words were low, guilt lacing thick into his words. This was definitely not what he’d came to the party for, but maybe it was all things that just had to be said. It was better they come up now than later-- Reid was a suspicious type folk, though. That’s all I’ll say; let’s hope he won’t find this little ‘row’-- or, misunderstanding, as he prefers-- any sort of silly omen. But he’s known to give things a chance-- most things. Reid’s gaze locked to Caleb sternly, his eyes narrowing in a deep, careful fashion. “That’s not true. Stop it, I never said that.” In a sense, he did, but he never said he was wrong about everything in his life-- he would never say that. Maybe if Caleb had known him longer, he would know that. No, his thoughts can’t turn bitter, that wouldn’t end well. It was ironic that one of the things he hated was when people thought lowly of themselves-- okay, maybe not quite that, because that would make him a flat-out hypocrite, but it was more that they doubted themselves. Reid doesn’t doubt himself, not often. Maybe once in his life will he look back and wish that he had done something differently, but he doesn’t doubt.
The stern look in the depths of his otherwise emotionless eyes seemed to glint off the moonlight, his arms crossing over his chest weakly, pulling himself into a hug as he swayed softly with the breeze. Surely his legs would turn to jell-o soon, causing him to topple to the floor-- either that or his body will give into the hunger pains, one of the two. Reid’s eyes never left Caleb, though no words seem to be able to leave his lips. Words weren’t important, and he couldn’t seem to think of any.
“Why would you say that?” Reid asked suddenly, almost demandingly. “It’s your life, if someone insists your wrong, then fuck them all-- what do they know.” That was rather contradictory, Reid, that was good. Shaking his head slightly, Reid dropped his face into his palms. “Or just know that they’re really sorry and probably the ones that were wrong,” he mumbled almost inaudibly into his palms, his head swaying from left to right in a disappointed shake-- at himself, of course. He was being stupid, and it took him all this time. This whole stupid ‘fight’ was his fault and he really did feel like taking a very long swim in the lake would be fun. If you know what I mean.

Caleb could hear the obnoxious voices of Abigail, and Shane in his head. He wanted to scream. But he just held his head in his hands and bit his lip hard. He had so maney issue's in his life. He didn't want to get Reid mixed up in them. He just liked him a lot. Reid was the only thing that seemed to make stuff better, until now, where it's just getting them into a fight and he hated it. How anybody's life could be perfect was beyond him. the first person who could honestly say nothing was wrong in their life. They had everything they needed and wanted. Caleb enveyed them very much.
“I didn’t mean it like that.” he mide as well have. He knew Reid didn't mean it the way Caleb was taking it, just the word 'your wrong' hurt him. He had always been told he was wrong, his whole life. Now hearing it from the one person he was really startignt o care about, it hurt. " I...I know you didn't." He said softly, moving his head from his hands and looking to Reid. His eyes were burning, he closed them for a minute then re opened them ,looking at Reid once again.
“That’s not true. Stop it, I never said that.” Now the kid was contridicting himself. Oh god! Caleb moved his hair from his eyes. "I know. Im just saying. Everyone says im wrong. And your just one of...." He stopped himself. Reid was nothing like them, he was sweet, and funny, and amazing. No way could he be compared to them. "your just sounding like them." He fixed the sentence, The words were burned into his mind. 'your wrong, your wrong' kept playing in his head like a skipping record.
“Why would you say that?” Reid sounded almost demanind, likw whoa! "Becasue it's true! All my life people have told me im wrong. this is just....another one of those times I guess" When someone told him he was wrong, he believed them. He fought it at first, but eventually gave in to the sucky feeling he got from knowing everything he did was wrong. They did it out of enjoyment, to see him cry. Reid didn't know what he was doing to Caleb when he said that. “It’s your life, if someone insists your wrong, then fuck them all-- what do they know.” wow did that sound kind of hyprocritical, coming from Reid. but didn't matter, he was right, Caleb had tried that. It only got him hurt, raped, or left him crying. "would be nice if it was that easy huh?" He said softly, looking at the ground.
“Or just know that they’re really sorry and probably the ones that were wrong,” Caleb looked at Reid, was he apologizing? Caleb smiled a bit. He pulled Reid into a slightly awkward hug, holding him semi- tight. "They don't have to be. Sometimes, words just sting" He said softly, if Reid seriously didn't want Caleb hugging him, he could push away.

Duray stood in her cabin with nothing but a towel on. She was planning on going to this party. She needed to go to this party. The fact that they were having a party was utterly perfect. Utterly perfect timing. She'd talked to her Marciella, or that is her mother, earlier, who had totally pissed her off. She was talking about how the pool boy had put in extra hours because the chlorine level in the pool was all wrong. Duray knew what that meant. The pool boy had stayed extra late for an extra long screwing session with her mother. Her mother then proceeded to ask her how she was doing which was followed by non-listening and Marciella rushing her off of the phone because her best friend was on the line. What kind of bullshit was that?!
Anyway the point is, the party had come at the perfect time. Duray wanted nothing more than to get drunk, dance, possibly hook-up with someone, and do whatever else needed to be done to forget about every bad day she'd ever had in her life. That's why she partied anyway. It eased the pain. It may only be temporary but either way it eased the pain.
After standing in the cabin with just her towel on for awhile, Duray picked out her clothes and got dressed. She put on a super short mini skirt (more like micro skirt), a silvery-shimmery silver halter whose neckline dipped all the way down to her belly button, her silver ballet flats, and her playboy bunny navel ring. She was in total party attire. After she was dressed she did her make up which included eyeliner to give her eyes that smoky rockstar look and lipgloss. She spritzed just a dab of perfume on herself happily. Next came the hair. She pulled it back into a bun with a slick bang swooping over the side of her face.
She finally deemed herself party presentable. There as only one final step that needed to be taken to achieve full party potential. She searched through her cosmetic bag for a small bottle. She finally pulled it out. the bottle contained a prescription written for pain killers. She opened the cap with ease and then dumped two little pills into her hand. She closed the bottle back up and replaced it where she had gotten it from. She popped the pills into her mouth and took a swig from her bottle of water. The pills traveled down her throat and to their destination.
Sure Duray would be drinking that night. Only the goody-two shoes people wouldn't. Now its said that you aren't supposed to mix most if not all medicine with alcohol, especially pain killers, but Duray never heeded that warning. In fact it was the effect that most wanted to avoid that she wanted to achieve. Once the two substances mixed together, her life for the night would be perfect. She was counting on it. Besides they also say you aren't supposed to take pain killers if you have no physical pain identified by a doctor. She didn't follow that rule either.
Duray stepped out of her cabin and walked across the lawn to Yellowstone Cabin. This cabin was the male equivalent of hers. She walked straight through the door only to be bombarded with the smell of weed, alcohol, and possibly vomit, the sound of loud music, and the sight of bumping and grinding, making out, and other things. She was finally at home. She walked right over to wear the cups were and filled one with what she recognized at Vodka. Oh this was going to be a fun night.

God he sounded so hurt, and just by two small words that Reid carelessly threw around. Just because they didn’t affect him didn’t mean they didn’t others. He hadn’t a clue what Caleb had been through, he really should’ve just kept his mouth shut. “Sorry, it still didn’t give me the right to say anything. I’m just the same as all of those people, it seems, huh?” he spoke, letting out a bitter laugh as he shoved his hands into the depths of his pockets. “Always the type of people I try to save others from-- ironic that I’m just like them,” he continued, more to himself than anything. It was true, Reid was always trying to save people from the heartache that that type of person gave off-- he was always the go-to for things like this, it all just seems silly and hypocritical now. Either Reid’s headache had considerably subsided, or his mind was just far elsewhere, making him forget about it all together. Most likely the latter, but the fresh air was definitely aiding in both happening.
The stars were bright, Reid’s gaze drawing to the soothing shapes he could trace between them. And there it was, laid out right in front of him-- he was just one of those people. It was what Caleb wanted to say, Reid knew it, there was no need to sugarcoat it. I mean, Reid hadn’t given the same respect in sugarcoating his accusations for the other male, it was only fair. Reid didn’t deserve any better than Caleb would give the other figures that did just that, why was he any different? Their intentions seemed exactly the same, that’s what the worst part about it was. They were both after the same thing-- the satisfaction of being right, of triumphing over Caleb, in this case, and proving that he is, indeed, wrong. It must be a horrible feeling.
Reid avoided Caleb’s gaze at all costs, his teeth taking a deathly grip on the skin of his lower lip; he looked everywhere, the sky, the trees, the moon, which was full at this time of night, and even the ground; anywhere to avoid Caleb’s judgmental eyes. I mean, surely they weren’t actually, but Reid usually thought people always looked at him and immediately judged him-- it was a nasty habit, really. Finally, though, when Caleb spoke out once more, Reid’s guilty grey eyes met his features, brow risen lowly. “Yeah but what do I know about how you feel?” Reid questioned. It would have been a much more helpful question about a half hour ago, before he started the whole thing, but more for himself than for Caleb-- hell, that was a rhetorical question for the other male anyways. Either that or it was extremely simple-- nothing; Reid knew nothing except for what Caleb told him about how he feels. Yet he chose, then, not to believe it. Smooth, Callahan.
Reid sauntered forward slightly, standing somewhere beside Caleb as he continued speaking, his index finger dragging along a carving in the bark. At his question, Reid laughed softly. “I think we really should sue Disney. That fucker makes everything seem so easy, doesn’t he? Too bad he’s frozen or whatever and we wouldn’t get a damn dime from ‘im,” Reid mused, shaking his head as he let his head drop back to his side. Before he knew it, though, his small frame had been pulled into a hug, and he, surprisingly, welcomed it gratefully. Not only that, Caleb’s words made him nearly melt-- he seemed so understanding, yet Reid was acting like such a…jerk. Something he is so completely the opposite of. “Yeah, well, even if they don’t have to be, they are. And sometimes they should think before they speak,” he added in, burying his face into Caleb’s shoulder, as that was about where his height left off.
“Those idiots,” he added, laughing softly into his skin as he returned the hug finally.

Caleb was slowly trying to leave behind those annoying voices he heard. He wished they would be gone for good, but it was no use. Half of his life was spent with the pain and the doubt, couldn't get rid of it now. “Sorry, it still didn’t give me the right to say anything. I’m just the same as all of those people, it seems, huh?” Caleb took his head. "No, trust me, your nothing like them. Your so much better" He said with a smile. He lossened the bite on his lips, probably would have a mark there for awhile.
“Always the type of people I try to save others from-- ironic that I’m just like them,” Caleb defiantly didn't see him as one of them. He was way to amazing to be anything like them. He didn't have the cold heart, or the bitchy attitude. He probably could find a way to make Caleb cry, but most people could. He was just super sensative. Yeah not expected from a guy like him. "Your really not, don't worry" He said looking at Reid with soft eyes.
Caleb was happy this fight was dying down. wow, he had known Reid for almost two days and they already had their first argument, a new record. But he would make up with Reid a million times, as long as it meant they would be friends. Reid didn't seem to want more then that, so Caleb would try not to push it. Though he couldn't promise, his feelings wouldn't change. “Yeah but what do I know about how you feel?” sounded like a retorical question. Plus Caleb couldn't figure how to answer that, so he didn't.
Reid talked about suing Walk Disney and it made him chuckle a bit. "Yeah we should. that bastard made everything in his movies seem like life was perfect. Yeah, to bad he's frozen. Whats the point of that really, just die, no one wants him around longer then he already was" Caleb said with a smile. He found it odd that the old man wanted to freeze himself, we didn't like him now and no body would like him years from now. we'd rather just have him die. “Yeah, well, even if they don’t have to be, they are. And sometimes they should think before they speak,”
He felt Reid burry his face into Calebs shoulder. It made him smile, he loved this close contact he had with Reid. "they didn't no any better. Speaking without thinking is just a human thing, everyone does it" Caleb said with a smile, Resting his head lightly on top of Reids. “Those idiots,” Caleb chuckled and finally felt the hug be returned. his heart skipped a beat, he wasn't ready to let go of Reid just yet. But if Reid was, he could, Caleb wouldn't stop him. The leaves rustled aroud them and a crack of thunder was heard in the distance. Caleb bit his lip lightly and lifted his head from on top of Reid, but not letting go of him yet. " How long you think we have till it down pours on us?" He asked with a smile.

It was just then that Reid realized; nothing was as interesting to look at as Caleb proved to be. He couldn’t help it, grey irises were just drawn to him. If he could paint, that would definitely be what he would put on a canvas first, what he was right now-- Caleb, the tree behind him, and the soft illumination of moonlight on his creamy cheeks and shoulders. Was that a weird thought? Eh, probably just sort of awkward-- Reid didn’t want anymore of that, so he shook it away quickly. His hands had found their ways into the appropriate pocket, Reid’s gaze darting from the taller male and found his dirty, abused vans as they shuffled him around in the dirt. Now he understood what it felt like to be told something, but not believe it. Well, he had before, just minutes before, but this was different. “Right now, that’s hard to believe,” he mumbled, shaking his head softly. “Seriously though, I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean to…well, y’know.” Reid was a profuse apologizer, it’s something you’ll learn and, hopefully, get used to-- some still find it annoying, but he can’t help it. There are two things he feels easily; embarrassment and guilt. Lucky him.
There were a few more thunderclaps, but neither of them said anything about them yet, nor did they seem to mind all too much. Reid had a deathly fear of huge thunder storms-- lightning and all-- but he wasn’t about to say anything. That was…well, embarrassing. Hence him keeping his mouth shut. Either way, Reid didn’t really want to think about something as morbid/frightening as a storm right now, so he shoved it from his mind, trying to block out the distant slams of thunder. Besides, the talk of Walt Disney was comforting and light-hearted, nothing depressing, really, or offensive. “Especially considering he’s being pretty selfish in freezing himself. I mean, it’s not like an Austin Powers freeze, which was for the benefit of the states as a whole, to stop Dr. Evil of course,” he said, chuckling softly. “It’s so he can liveeeee once they create a cure for cancer,” he mumbled, rolling his eyes lightly. Not that Reid often thought about such a thing, but it was usually common knowledge-- and it did kinda suck that just because he’s rich he gets to do such a thing.
Either way, Reid just focused on the comfort and warmth of Caleb’s body against his. The cold air was beginning to get to him and warmth was something he would welcome with open arms-- literally, in this case. His still understanding words made Reid grin slightly into the other’s skin, his weight shifting from one foot to the other. “I guess you’re right, thanks,” he said, muffled slightly as he stepped back slightly, letting go of Caleb’s waist hesitantly. He didn’t appreciate the cold that greeted him, but the cabin sounded nicer than standing outside, chancing getting poured down on and struck by lightning. Okay, so that was a little out there, but it was a common, legitimate fear.
“I dunno, but I’d rather not stick around and find out,” Reid mumbled, trying to hold back the shakiness of his voice at the conversation of storms with booming thunder and lightning. “Let’s go back inside,” the redhead offered, of course putting it more as a question than anything-- he left the options open though, leaving Calen to decide where ‘inside’ constituted as.

Caleb moved his eyes from Reid to the purple and grey skies, this was an indication that a storm was coming. Big storm. Sounded fun. Caleb enjoyed thunder storms, thy were so much fun to watch, dance in, read with a flash light when the power went out. He could find amusing things to do, during a storm. He looked back to Reid, “Right now, that’s hard to believe,” Caleb smiled a bit. Reid was definatly better then Abigail and shane, so much. "Well believe it mister cause you are" He said with a slightly bigger smile. He was jsut happy their fight was over.
Caleb heard a couple more cracks of thunder and could tell Reid wasn't liking it. He seemed a bit frightened. Hey that was why Caleb was here, he was happy to keep him company during the storm that was coming in probably less then half an hour, but the sound of the thunder. Yeah, Caleb took a lot of Earth Science classes in school, weather fasinated him. He couldn't help but laugh when Reid talked about Disny and the freezing thing. "Yes, very selfish of him. I mean, He's not saving the word like Austen." He said with a smile. Disney just had money, which is why he could freeze himself.
“I guess you’re right, thanks,” It made him quite depressed to feel Reid's arms leave his waist. But he still smiled. His head still killed, that was the price of drinking booze. Sure tomarrow he might feel a bit hung over, but there wasn't much drinking for him tonight, so just a major headache for the day. Sounds super fun doesn't it. “I dunno, but I’d rather not stick around and find out,” Caleb nodded, hearing another clap of thunder, he was sure he had felt a rain drop or two. “Let’s go back inside,” Caleb was hesitant. No way did he want to go back to his cabin.
"Uh, you maybe want to head over to yours? I mean I really don't want to get back to mine, i can't handle that" He said with a chuckle. He bit his lip lightly. " Could I um...like come chill in your cabin, atleast until the parties over i only give it another hour or so." He said. He didn't mind having to run in the rain back to his cabin, he liked the rain. Plus, Reid didn't seem like one to want to spend a thunderstorm alone, he seemed positively frightened of them.

That was definitely a comforting thought; Reid wasn’t better than many people, and to hear someone beside his mother say that he was was definitely an ego-booster-- especially coming from a someone called Caleb. He returned the soft smile, his gaze dropping, “Thanks,” he mumbled almost inaudibly-- how do you respond to that? Perhaps because Reid didn’t know exactly how to take compliments, he was a little lost for words. He was such a modest, shy little one when it came to that kind of thing-- he never thought he was better than anyone, so hearing it was definitely new. Surely those people couldn’t have been bad if Reid was atop them on the pyramid-- at least, judging by how guilty he still felt for even bringing it up. Guilt went a long way on his shoulders, he’d be sad to report. Either way, it was definitely a good thing to hear Caleb’s tone of voice pulling into the same smile his lips had-- that which he had to look up and admire for just a little bit before realizing he was flat-out staring. Dur, Reid, smooth.
Shaking his head, he let a soft breath fall from his lips and invade the cold air visibly, a small puff of white fog rising into the stars, disappearing within a matter of moments. Reid’s gaze turned back to Caleb finally, figuring it had been a safe amount of time to clear himself of staring, this time remembering to blink a decent amount of times, letting his gaze stray away every few second to avoid the embarrassing accusation. The seventeen year old simply nodded in agreement, his body swaying softly, absently. “Yeah, but whatever. As long as he’s not all over the place. I would want to shoot him if I saw him on the news, like, every single day,” Reid said, shrugging softly. It would probably be true-- too much of someone like Walt Disney’s smiling face too often could drive one mad. Of course, Caleb would be the exception-- he could see Caleb’s smiling face all the time. And Jenna’s, but that was different.
At his suggestion of going back to mammoth, opposed to Yellowstone, Reid nodded happily. “Yes, please,” he said, not meaning to sound so enthusiastic that Caleb wasn’t in the mood to return to the party. He shook his head slightly, wrapping thin, long fingers around the other’s wrist and giving him a soft tug, pulling him through the dirt until they reached the pathway that had been made by so much treading from cabin, to cabin, to lodge, to bathroom, etcetera. It was a thin, slightly narrow path that had rocks here and there, but it was clear in the moonlight-- even though the clouds were doing a swell job in blocking that, it was still easy to spot everything in the moonlight. Especially Caleb, he seemed to stand out more than anything.
“Of course, you’re always welcome,” Reid assured him, nodding softly and sending him a soft grin over his shoulder, shivering softly as he pushed open the door to reveal the cabin’s interior; clean, slightly dusty, and, for the most part, pretty pleasant smelling. Why that stood out so much was beyond the redhead, but he noticed it the second he walked in--probably because the cabin lacked the pungent scent of smoke and alcohol all in one. Holding the door open until Caleb had entered, Reid licked his lips before practically skipping to his bunk, searching for his-- for once regretfully-- care bears blanket. So sue him, he was a fan.

Yeah, Caleb had definatly felt a couple rain drops, hearing the thunder again it was definatly going to down pour any minute now. Hopefully they would be leaving soon because, though Caleb loved the rain. He was in no mood to get sick. “Thanks,” Caelb smiled and looked at Reid. He didn't want to seem like he was staring but he couldn't help it. Reid was cute, beyond cute actually, staring was hard not to do.
Caleb just remembered his arms were still around Reid lightly. He quickly withdrew, feeling slightly stupid. " Heh, sorry" He said rubbing the back of his neck. He felt a drop of water fall on the bridge of his nose. he wiped it away and looked up then back at Reid. “Yeah, but whatever. As long as he’s not all over the place. I would want to shoot him if I saw him on the news, like, every single day,” Caleb chuckled a bit. "Yeah, that guy has always annoyed me, seeing him more would just annoy the crap out of me" Caleb would definatly have that erge to shoot Walt Disney too.
“Yes, please,” Caleb smiled at Reid enthusiasum. Caleb didn't want to go back to his cabin so he was happy he could go to Reid's. He felt a light tug at his wrist, with signaled for him to follow Reid. Caleb did, he walked with Reid through a small path that was obviouly made by tredding feet over numerous years. Wow, when they got to Reid's cabin it was so much different. No music, no bad smell, it was quiet, how different.
“Of course, you’re always welcome,” That was nice to know. Caleb smiled and walked into the very quiet cabin. "whoa" He mumbled not believing, he definatly wasn't used to it, that was all. Caleb walked voer to Reid's bunk and took a seat on the edge. He could hear the rain hitting the roof of the cabin. they made it here just in time. another crack of thunder, awesome! Why thunder storms amused him so much was a bit odd, but oh well, he was an odd child.

Reid shivered softly at the cracks of thunder, his grip fastening on the edges of his blanket as he wrapped it around himself and curled up against his chest. He simply nodded at the continuing topic of Walt Disney, really not having anything left to say without going on a ridiculously long and pointless tangent about how he adores Disneyland but hates the man, and yada yada yada. See why he’s not continuing? Regardless, Reid leaned back against the wall loosely, legs still pulled tightly to his chest as he looked at Caleb, head cocking to the side slightly. “Whoa what?” he asked bluntly, licking his lips loosely. Whoa as in ‘what the fuck am I doing here’, whoa, or some other kind of whoa? Reid was never good at interpreting, hence him always just being the go-to person for listening, but this one actually confused him. Of course, he then realized it was probably because it was so small, quaint, quiet and nice. Or, to him, at least, nice.
The set up of his own bunk was a little embarrassing, but fortunately it was dark enough that you couldn’t make up the doodles, decorations, or pillow case-- even though pacman was the least ‘embarrassing’-- so Reid didn’t feel the need to worry. Besides, at least he wasn’t already asleep. It was getting late, sure, but the flashing digits of red only shone ‘11:56’; hence, not that late. I guess there was a reason Mammoth cabin was somewhat goody goody. Compared to Yellowstone, of course. Looking around, he found a few snoozing males, small lumps under thick covers, apparently not phased by the beating rain. It seemed to grow by the second, Reid’s grip around himself tightening slightly as he shuffled to curl up against his few, fluffy, pacman-clothed pillows. He let out a content sigh, once more looking at Caleb.
“So…first year here at camp, huh?” he mumbled, really unsure where to direct the conversation. Small talk wasn’t his forte, especially when he was as tired as he currently proved to be. The redhead fought back a yawn, maybe two, not showing any signs of his random sleepy state. He didn’t want to go to sleep, nor did Reid want to let Caleb go back to that party-- rather, he just didn’t want Caleb to leave. So it had been a little awkward earlier, but it was good to know they could surpass it. Actually, Reid was proud of himself for not slapping him in the face after his little stunt-- he was just too adorable to actually do that, though. Not to mention the fact that he wouldn’t lay a hand on his seemingly flawless features.
Thunder and Reid’s hunger pains cracked the soft silence, causing the smaller male to jump slightly, pulling his body in tighter. Hmmph, storms like this aren’t very fun. He was amazed that the party was still happening, though he figured it was seeing as some of the cabin beds were still vacant and no one had came back completely shitfaced yet.

Sitting at the edge of reid's bd Caleb moved his gaze to Reid who looked positively frightened. Storms must not have been his thing. Another crack of thunder was soon followed by a bolt of lightening. Caleb guessed you could actually see the lightening bolt if you were outside, but he wouldn't go check. “Whoa what?” The cabin was so much quieter then Caleb's. Guess it could be nice from time to time, but Caleb had to also guess it got pretty boring.
"It's just....so much quieter in here" He said with a smile. "Nice change from the loud house" He added running his hand through his dark hair, listening to the pounding rain. It had a good beat to it, but Caleb wouldn't say anything, he didn't want to look like an idiot. He just noticed that kind of random stuff.
“So…first year here at camp, huh?” small talk? probably, just considering it was random. how did he know? lucky guess probably, or he could just look new. "Yup, I never went to camp when I was younger so my aunt and uncle decided to should get the experience" He said looking out the rain window then back at Reid. "Plus I think they wanted me out of the house" He added with a smile. "How long have you been going here?" He asked Reid didn't seem new to the camp, but he could be wrong.
These kind of storms always made Caleb excited because he would sit around with Teah in their room when thy were younger and tell scary stories. Or if they got to scared, happy stories. Teah would sometimes tell Caleb what their dad was like, because he never got to meet him. Or they would tell jokes, play games. Those were maybe the only happy memories he had back home, if you could consider it a home in the first place.
Another crack of thunder caused Reid to hug himself tighter. "Are you ok? You seem a bit, scared?" He asked scooting a bit more on the bed. Making sure to kick off his dirty shoes first, he sat across from Reid. His legs were crossed indian style. Caleb looked over the frightened Reid. He would try to comfort him, like so he wasn't as scared. But he didn't want a repeat of earlier. So he kept his arms to himself.

Reid nodded slightly, laughing softly. “Yeah, well, a lot of things are much quieter than the Yellowstone cabin,” Reid offered light-heartedly, a laugh to support the teasing in it all. It was pretty true though; the Yellowstone cabin could get quite rough, routy, and loud, unlike most things at camp. Nodding once more, Reid made a lazy, half-assed effort to brush away a few strands of irritating red hair that had slid from their rightful position inside the headband. Naturally he would go all out and fix it, but he was afraid that if he let the blanket uncover him, he’d get struck by lightning or some silly theory like that. Yes, Reid thought about those kinds of things, you’ll get used to it. At the sound of Caleb’s voice once more, Reid collected his thoughts to coherency and looked over at him, a soft smile gracing his features. “That’s probably not true, the part about wanting to get you out of the house. But you should be glad you came; it’s so fun,” Reid said enthusiastically, nodding. He might sound a little childish getting excited over a summer camp, but Brunswick had proved to be a very different kind of camp; much, much better. It’s like a teenager’s Disneyland-- or, more appropriately, a teenager’s nightclub. “Besides, if you didn’t come, you would’ve have met me,” he teased, winking in the dark haired boy’s direction to signal the joke in his statement. Obviously meeting little Reid Callahan wasn’t on many people’s ‘ten things to do before I die’ list.
At his next question, Reid fought under the blankets for his fingers to count off the years he’d attended this very camp. “A lot?” he offered after a few minutes, a soft laugh slipping from his lips. He wrinkled his freckle-covered nose, shaking his head and holding his fingers out partly. “This would be my sixth year,” he admitted, pursing his lips distastefully. It may seem embarrassing, but Reid always enjoyed this place-- each more every year, it seemed. Nothing changed, save the campers, and he always had Jenna, and usually Tessa, and now maybe Caleb, too. Camp was definitely always the highlight of his summer-- considering it took up pretty much all of it, though. Either way, Reid wouldn’t even go into why he had fun usually, it was just collective, really. “Yeah, a long time,” he added in, laughing softly once more. He didn’t want any silence, seeing as the thumping of the thunder was nearing and Caleb was distracting him well from the flashed from the thinly-curtained windows-- way to go ugly green curtains, way to not do your job. “Hmm?” Reid had zoned out outside the curtains, both Caleb’s voice and a flash of thunder had snapped him back into reality. “Me? Scared? Tch, no, I’m just fine,” he said, though his tone of voice was everything but persuasive. “Okay, I’m scared pretty much shitless, but just keep talking,” he advised, nodding a bit vigorously. Even if the conversation had nothing to do with anything, it was far better than listening to the thunder and lightning-- besides, random conversations with Reid proved to turn out interesting and, if he does say so himself, funny. Passes the time easily. Just get him started and you probably won’t be able to shut him up. Reid examined the other male carefully, head cocking to the side as he shuffled so he, too, was sitting in a pretzel-like shape, blankets pulled tighter around his chest now, still draping to cover his legs efficiently.

Another crack of thunder. Man this was one heck of a storm. “Yeah, well, a lot of things are much quieter than the Yellowstone cabin,” Caleb nodded, that was true. "Well, everythings quieter then my cabin" He said with a small laugh. He watched Reid with a smile. The headband he wore was cute, he had noticed it beofre but for some reason it was looking cuter now. Maybe becasue he was so scared, yeah that was making him even cuter.
"That’s probably not true, the part about wanting to get you out of the house. But you should be glad you came; it’s so fun,” Caleb shook his head. on't get him wrong, his aunt and uncle love him, but he wasn't a great kid. "Nah they did, I guess I wasn't the...best kid ever. I think they wanted me out of their hair. Thats ok though. this place is pretty cool" He said with a shrug. He was liking this place more and more, especially with Reid here. “Besides, if you didn’t come, you would’ve have met me," Yeah that was true. He knew Reid meant it as a joke but it was true. He wouldn't have gotten to meet Reid, how tragic.
"See thats true. Im glad I did meet you though" He said with a soft smile. There wasn't any sarcasim in his voice, he was serious. “This would be my sixth year,” wow, he's been here for awhile. Probably knew this place inside out. "wow, thats really cool. you must be an expert by now then!" Caleb said with a smile. Thunder was heard again followed by a flash of bright light. He saw Reid give a small jump, he just smiled.
“Me? Scared? Tch, no, I’m just fine,” wow, he sucked at lying. “Okay, I’m scared pretty much shitless, but just keep talking,” Caleb chuckled and scooted next to Reid on the bed. " Aw don't be scared, it's just a storm." ok it was a big storm, but still nothing to be shitting yuor pants over. Atleast not for Caleb. He decided to comfort Reid a bit, just to make him a bit more comfortable. He wrapped his arms around Reid. "But im here, so no need to be scared" He said with a smile. not knoing if this was actually going to help, but he felt kind of bad.

Reid nodded slightly, inhaling the soggy air around them-- it smelled a bit musty, the wood and falling rain was not a pleasant mixture for cabins like these. Surely no one but him noticed, though, he had been told he had a distinct sense of smell-- must make up for his horrible hearing, that and his eyesight; he had good sense of smell and sight. Eh, either way, he wrinkled his nose once more at the new scent and leaned closer against the wall and his pillows, closing his eyes for a moment as he just listened to Caleb speak. Not a good kid? Reid wasn’t about to go into that, seeing as that made them completely opposite, but still. It was…interesting. He seemed shy and quiet around Reid, he could hardly imagine that he wasn’t ‘the best kid ever’. Nodding anyways, Reid licked his lips and opened his eyes lightly, wandering the semi-darkness for Caleb’s face. “It gets better. Like campfire tomorrow, that’s gonna be fun,” he said, shrugging softly. “What water sports have you signed up for tomorrow? If any,” he asked, brow raising. He’d made his Saturday free, left for him to sleep. Mm, sleep. Sounded appealing now, too. But he wouldn’t give in, not with Caleb still as a guest. Besides, dreams hadn’t exactly been on his side lately, so this was better than dreaming.
Reid’s eyes had shut once more, before he could stop them, but he was still all ears. He let out a soft laugh, shaking his head slightly. “Yeah, well, you would’ve survived without, trust me. Would’ve made tonight a lot easier, hm?” he said, laughing a bit. “And more fun, probably, considering you’d probably be drunk off your ass with your friends opposed to sitting with cowering little Reid like you are,” he said, shaking his head a bit. The majority of his statement was true, if not all of it. At least, how he was it. “Yeah, pretty much know it like the back of my hand,” he said, chuckling softly as he shuffled to fold his arms over his chest firmly, still gripping the end of the blanket tightly. The heat was beginning to get to him, but he wasn’t planning on moving any time soon-- he felt safe under the warmth of the blanket. And, now, in the comfort of Caleb’s arms. He let out a breathy laugh, shaking his head slightly. “Just a storm to you, maybe. I’m a fan of rain, really, but getting my brains fried by a bolt of lightning is not exactly my idea of-fuck,” he mumbled, trailing off with double claps of thunder, “fun.”
Reid got like this during thunder/lightning storms. Rain, he really was a big fan of rain, but when it got dangerous, he really wasn’t a fan. “If you’re not supposed to be in water when lightning strikes, then why the hell does it happen when water is falling on your head? I don’t get it,” he grumbled, mostly just rambling now as he shuffled into the other boy slightly. It was legitimate logic to Reid, if it counted for anything.

Yeah, Caleb wasn't a good kid back home. A little rebel his sister called him. He didn't mean to be, especially because his aunt and uncle were so great and took him and Teah in. Instead of sticking them in an orphange. He jsut has that little bit of anxiety towrds everything and just gets an attitude. “It gets better. Like campfire tomorrow, that’s gonna be fun,” Caleb nodded. It actually just sounded like a bunch of punks sitting around a fire singing songs. But he doubted that was it, he had just seen it in movies before. "Can't wait" He said with a smile.
“What water sports have you signed up for tomorrow? If any,” Caleb ha to think for a minute. did he sing up for anything. Well, he hated swimming, so he probably didn't. "I don't think so..." He said biting his lip lightly, he doubted he was signed up for them, water sports weren't his thing. “Yeah, well, you would’ve survived without, trust me. Would’ve made tonight a lot easier, hm?” Nah, Caleb liked tonight, sure the fight wasn't fun, but making up was ok. And though the kiss evidently meant nothing to Reid, it was good for Caleb. He would do it again in a heartbeat if he didn't know it would lead to another fight. Then Reid said something about getting drunk and not being here. Now thats no fun. "Nah, drunks fun but this is better" He said quietly.
He only drank becasue he couldn't handle his problems. But when he was with Reid, it was like he didn't have any problems, he loved the way Reid did that without him knowing or even wanting to. He heard another crack of thunder. His aunt always told him that it was the angels, back when he was young and naive. now he was older and just messed up. “Just a storm to you, maybe. I’m a fan of rain, really, but getting my brains fried by a bolt of lightning is not exactly my idea of-fuck,” Caleb smiled, pulling Reid a bit closer. "Theres a one in a million chance you would be struck by lightening, and as long as your careful, it won't happen" Caleb was a nerd, he knew everything about wether there was to know.
Reid started rambling about how they tell you not to be in water when theres lightening then why does it fall from the sky during a storm. Caleb used to ask that, until Earth Science class. He felt Reid shuffle a little closer, he kept one arm around him and the othr moved to gently play with his hair. He rand his hand through Reid's red hair, playing with the tips gently. "Well, thats why your not actually saposed to be out in the rain during a storm" He said looking down at Reid's head of red hair. "And plus lightening goes for the tallest thing it can. So just, don't go touching metal poles during a storm" He said with a laugh. He knew he sounded very, nerdy, but it was just an instinct to explain the weather to people, he loved it.

Reid nodded slightly, “They’re more fun than they sound, promise. No guitars or campfire songs included,” he assured the other male, laughing softly. It was true, there was no campfire jingles, no cheesy acoustic guitar playing to soft, sad, soothing music, and there was no ‘reminiscing’ on the week’s activities. That was so third grade campfire; not Brunswick. Regardless, Reid’s gaze trailed to the other boy as he spoke, his face threateningly close to Caleb’s, unknown to him until he actually felt the heat of his skin radiating off him. Leaning back slightly, Reid licked his lips and simply nodded. “We should rent out a rowboat tomorrow. I have something to show you. It’s really sick, promise.” Reid was sure making a lot promises, it seemed; fortunately these ones were all he could keep. Unless one doesn’t find waterfalls and sunsets sick, then it probably won’t be, but since Reid does, it has been dubbed ‘sick’. But either way Reid would drag the other male from his cabin, drunk or sober, at six o’clock and they would go to his discovered hide-out and watch the sunset. Reid always found that one of the most fascinating things about camp, so why be selfish and keep it to himself? Things were always better when they’re able to be shared.
“Wouldn’t know,” Reid said, nodding a bit as he laughed. “But I’ll take your word for it?” he opted, giving him a cheeky grin before hiding back under the blanket slightly more at the most recent thuds of thunder that broke the silence and the silent, thick black of the sky. At least, from what he could see through the curtains. Even though he knew Caleb was only trying to make him feel better, Reid was too paranoid for words to aid in his fears. The closeness did help, made him feel safer, but still. “Y’know, one is pretty big if you think about it.” Whenever hearing the phrase ‘one in a million’, Reid immediately thinks of the lottery. It’s a weird thought, considering he’s never won the lottery, nor entered it, but for some reason the digits on the news flash in his mind and he gets a spaced look on his face. Fortunately Caleb was there to speak and break his trance, along with the soft tugging he felt on the long strands of red hair that were probably invading the other male.
“Yeah, but sometimes it’s a little inevitable, it’s it?” Reid inquired silently, this time not moving his head from the comfort of Caleb’s shoulder. “I mean, I wasn’t planning on touching metal poles any time soon, especially not when it’s raining like this, but still,” he said, laughing softly. “Not that I would go out there for any reason right now, but yeah…” he continued, clearly loosing sight of when it was appropriate to just shut his mouth. Finally, though, when he was out of his little daydream of being electrocuted, shuddering visibly, he shook his head slightly and inhaled deeply. “Eh.”

“They’re more fun than they sound, promise. No guitars or campfire songs included,” Caleb smiled. Thank goodness, that would just drive Caleb crazy, frikkin camp fire songs. the day pigs fly would be the day Caleb would sit his ass on a log in order to sing 3rd grade songs and look like an idiot. "Thats good to know" He said still playing with Reid's hair, it was fun, he had nice soft hair.
“We should rent out a rowboat tomorrow. I have something to show you. It’s really sick, promise.” Actually bringing Caleb out in the water? For a guy that loves rain, he was deathly afraid of lakes, ponds, rivers, oceans, pools. Only because he almost drowned when he was 7 years old, in his aunts pool. Yet when it fell out of the sky, it wasn't as bad. "Actually going on the water" He said not knowing he had, ah shit how was he going to explain this one. He bit his lip lightly. "Yeah, uh..." Wow this was going to make him sound like an pansy. "See, large bodies of water kind of scare me, only because I almost drowned when I was seven" Why was he telling him this? He trusted Reid, hopefully not to tell anyone.
"I mean, I'll come along, just warning you,...im just letting you know ahead of time" He said, thank goodness Reid couldn't see his cheeks blushing. He felt like such a looser. But hey, Reid was scared of storms, and Caleb was scared of large bodies of ater. They were like perfect for eachother, to bad only Caleb could see that. Or atleast he thought he saw it. Another crack of thunder snapped Caleb back to reality. His hand was lightly stroaking Reid's hair, not actually knowing he was still doing it.
“Y’know, one is pretty big if you think about it.” Caleb nodded. That was true. Considering how many people there were in the whole world, way more then a million. More then a million made up America alone. that was a lot actually. It just sounded good the way Caleb had said it, without going to indepth in the thought. "If you spend your whole life, scared of what might happen you'll never know whats actually out there. Sometimes you just got to....Jump in and take a chance" Wow, he sounded like a fortune cookie, or a teacher. who knows, it sounded to wise to be coming from Caleb's lips. He wanted to take his own advice for a certain area of his life. But he couldn't.
“Yeah, but sometimes it’s a little inevitable, it’s it?” Caleb shrugged. "I guess. but thats the thing. Don't of it that way, and you have a better chance of it not happening. It's a whole mind trick thing I learned about in sycology" Yeah he was a syc major to, so sue him. God he was sounding like a idiot. He should just stop talking for a bit. He looked down at Reid red hair. He kissed the top of his head lightly. Sure it wasn't his lips, but he was ok with that.

Reid would definitely feel idiotic singing ‘the wheels on the bus’ around a weak flame that they call a campfire, too, so it really did pay to know that that’s not how it went down. A lot of good times there with Jenna around the campfire, up until the time it was still dimly lit they were found practically laughing their asses off on a fort of logs and leaves. Definitely good times. Either way, Reid was relieved his first year to know that it wasn’t cheesy and stupid. It was fun and that was that. “Indeed,” he mumbled, his eyes shutting at the loud cracks of thunder. It’s not like it would get through the roof, but Reid, with his crazy imagination, totally thought that it would. And just happen to hit him, out of everything in the room. Even though he was now pretty much buried against the other male’s chest, he still thought the bolt of lightning would somehow get to him-- little headcase that he is. Out of his thoughts he went, though, as Caleb searched for his words. His ability to do so, or lack thereof, made a soft smile appear on Reid’s lips as he remember when he first met Caleb-- finally that boy was coming out again, he was awfully missed during his absence.
“Oh, no, I mean, we could walk there, too. I just thought it would be faster. But if you’re afraid it’s okay. I know what being afraid is like, trust me,” he said, laughing softly. Apparently Reid understood being afraid-- if you were to get a dictionary and look up the word ‘afraid’ right now, you would see the word ‘Reid’. Regardless, Reid simply shook his head and shut his eyes once more, his hands having let go of the blanket over his shoulders to grab onto Caleb’s tee shirt as more of the thunder and lighting around the cabin cracked. “How the hell does it go from hot, sunny, ninety-eight degrees to this in the matter of nightfall?!” Reid asked harshly against the other boy’s skin, groaning distastefully as he huddled against the warmth of the blanket-- or Caleb’s body, he couldn’t tell right now, though he didn’t really care, either. Inhaling deeply, attempting to calm himself down, Reid shrugged softly at Caleb’s advice. “Yeah, but you said it yourself; you’re not really supposed to walk out in the rain when lightning is stirring,” Reid said, laughing softly. Of course, he should’ve taken it seriously, along with stored it as a mental note, but the only thing he could do was make a joke. Really smooth… “But you’re right.” There you go, Reid…He sighed softly, letting his muscles relax slightly from their overly tensed former state.
“That’s a good point, but maybe, just maybe, you should heed your own advice though,” the redhead suggested, shrugging softly. It wasn’t meant to sound rude, or harsh, or forceful, or commanding, or anything of the sort, just a suggestion. Reid should do that more often; heed his own advice, I mean. He constantly tells his friends decent pieces of advice that come out so hypocritical because he can’t even follow it, usually. “Well aren’t we mister smart guy?” Reid asked, laughing softly against the other boy’s neck as he sat up once more, realizing he was holding onto Caleb’s shirt still before promptly letting go and grabbing the blanket to pull it back around his shoulders. “You really are smart, why do you resort to drinking?” Reid asked seriously, his head cocking to the side slightly. He didn’t have to answer, Reid had the tendency to pry where he didn’t belong-- on accident of course, he just needed to learn the whole privacy thing, and where the walls are.

He knew that was one ting he never told people. He was afarid of water. It was to weird to tell anyone, most people would jsut laugh. Call him a pansy or a loser, or something that wasn't so 1st grade material. So why was he so comfortable with telling Reid? He felt at ease with him, he was guessing that was why. He knew Reid wasn't the kind of guy to go blabbing secrets about people, so he did trust him. He hoped he wasn't wrong.
“Oh, no, I mean, we could walk there, too. I just thought it would be faster. But if you’re afraid it’s okay. I know what being afraid is like, trust me,” He smiled and shrugged a bit. "I don't care, I do like the ground more then the water though. So I say we walk" He said with a smile. It might take a little longer, but atleast he wouldn't be freaking out. Caleb did kinda sorta know how to swim, but he wasn't going to swm in a competition anytime soon. “How the hell does it go from hot, sunny, ninety-eight degrees to this in the matter of nightfall?!” cool, subject change. Caleb laughed a bit. that was a good question, to bad there wasn't an easy answer. to scientific to get into, so he didn't.
"thats, a mystery all in it's own. Weather's one crazy SOB" He said with a laugh. His hand traveled from Reid's hair eventually to his back. he drew small designs on his back. Hearts, stars he wrote Reid's name, his own name. It was just keeping him entertained. "But you’re right.” Caleb continued to draw shapes on Reid's back, wasn't sure how to answer that, so he didn't.
“That’s a good point, but maybe, just maybe, you should heed your own advice though,” Yeah, Reid made a point. Take your own advice before giving it out to others. that was just the way. "Maybe I should" He said simply, rubbing Reid's back gently. He just wanted something to do ith his hand and Reid was the closest thing to him right now, he liked it. Reid took ahold of his shirt and it made Caleb smile. Reid was practicly in his lap, but hey he wasn't complaining, he loved the warm heat he was feeling from Reid's body, though he was a bit shakey.
“Well aren’t we mister smart guy?” that was definatly sarcasim. Caleb was actually pretty smart though, he kind of liked school. Weird huh? "Yes..Yes we are" He said with just an equal amount of sarcasim back at him. He wasn't conceited, just making a joke. “You really are smart, why do you resort to drinking?” To Reid, that was a simple question, to Caleb, it was the whole reason for everything. He was quiet for a minute. He could trust Reid with anything, he hoped. He wasn't going to get into his life story, but since he asked, he wasn't going to deny him.
"Well thanks...Drinkings not all bad..." Lie. It was terrible, just to him it didn't feel bad. "Ok...yeah it's bad I know. It's just....Crap happened and I suck and handling it. So drinking is kind of my escape from having to deal with those problems for another day." He put as simply as possibly without getting into anything. Caleb looked down at Reid who was nuzzled in his chest and desperatley wanted to kiss him, but restrained himself, it would be to awkward, just stop thikning about it. He had to tell himself over and over.

Reid eyed the other male curiously, his back straightening slightly as he felt his muscles cramp up strangely. His head titled to the side slightly, his hands folding in his lap, though atop the blanket opposed to inside it. He could feel the sweat building on his forehead, and he wasn’t a fan of perspiration, so he would try and avoid that. Reid’s fingers fiddled with the ring on his finger absently once more, eyes narrowing softly in Caleb’s direction. “Walk it is,” he said, nodding promptly as if putting the final decision on their plans. “Meet me here at four, yeah?” he said, nodding once more. He’d say five-thirty, but they were walking, so they needed a bit more time than a half hour. With the plans made, Reid simply nodded in agreement to Caleb’s statement about the weather-- it really was one confusing, crazy SOB. Caleb seemed to have it spot on. A soft, visible shudder shook his bones, Reid’s teeth taking a soft hold of his lower lip. “You know, you’re really great,” he stated randomly, shrugging softly. It was true, though; Caleb was proving to be, well, really great. Reid didn’t want to seem to be leading him on or anything, but it was the honest-to-God truth, and Reid wasn’t a fan of liars.
Reid’s fingers trembled slightly against the steel of his ring, his tongue dampening his lips absently as he glanced over at the flashing light outside the window. Taking a deep breath, he shook his head and looked back at Caleb, he was a pleasant distraction to the on-goings outside, and Reid would rather look at Caleb anyways. Still rather close, though not against him anymore, Reid cocked his head to the side and tugged at the blanket more. “Cold?” he asked, just realized that he seemed really rude-- he had his own nice warm blanket and he hadn’t even offered any of it to Caleb. Bad Jacob! Smirking at his own dorky thoughts, Reid shook his head before raising a low brow in Caleb’s vague direction; simple, one-word question still hanging in the air. He’d be happy to share his care bear blanket, of course; as dorky as it was, it was very warm and comforting during a storm like this one.
A soft laugh fell from his lips, now pursed and shut carefully, the topic turning from sarcastic to serious within the matter of a few seconds. Of course, it had been his question, but he was curious as ever about it. I mean, Caleb had a lot-- he was smart, he had decent friends-- what was the need to ruin yourself with drinking? It was almost silly to Reid, but, like I said, to some it was a living. Not all bad? Reid simply knitted and rose his brows curiously, urging him to back that up. To him, drinking was all bad. I mean, it made you do stupid things you usually end up regretting, it’s pretty much giving your liver its death wish, and it just makes you into a complete idiot. Not to mention the whole addiction thing. But, of course, Reid wasn’t about to get into his whole ‘drinking is bad’ spiel-- last time that happened, he lost a boyfriend, so he won’t go there again. Either way, his attention turned back to Caleb quickly, once his first word left his lips.
It made sense, possibly; to some, apparently. Reid simply cocked his head to the side, searching for the proper words. “Was it your first instinct or did someone else put you up to it? I mean, like, was the first thing you thought of a cold beer once you were put up with a problem?” he asked, tone velvety and understanding as he examined the silhouettes of Caleb’s features in the darkness of the cabin. There was a candle burning somewhere near the corner, but Reid hadn’t bothered doing anything more; he was too busy trying to get to his blanket for ‘protection’-- because, oh yeah, bedtime bear is going to do a lot during a thunderstorm. Either way, his features were smooth, though hardly an outline on his face. A soft smile was settled on Reid’s lips, he couldn’t fight it while in such close vicinity with the other male, but he was still curious as ever.
