Things had been confusing in Brooklyn's life most recently. Of course, it always had been that way in the past but it had calmed down once she came to this camp. With Brooklyn nothing ever stayed that way, her life was always so busy, and she actually didn't mind it. If she woke up everyday not having anything to deal with that day, she would probably be very bored. That's just the way it has always been with her, and it would be wierd if all the drama had just ended there. She could obviously do without a lot of stuff that had gone on in her life, she would actually prefer that they didn't happen but that was something Brooklyn dealt with. She wasn't the type of person to completely forget something drastic. She might act like it didn't matter to her anymore, or that she didn't care and she was over it, but she always remembered. That's just the way she dealt with tough situations. The situation that she was in now, was quite far away and different then the typical Brooklyn thing. But still, what's life without a little risk, right. That's pretty much the way that she lived. She loved to do things where she was just slipping by getting into deep trouble. For some reason, she just loved the feeling of that. Sure, it was kind of bad to find enjoyment in breaking the rules, and foolling everyone into thinkign that she was actually obeying, but that's just how it went. Some people had caught on to the whole thing, but she had her ways of sneaking around and doing something new. It was good fun.
This time it was a secret relationship. Yes, it was something that anybody who knew Brooklyn well enough, would never expect her to be in. She was always one to be open about stuff like that. Not about her personal life, but any relationships that she had, she was could care less who knew, and what they thought about it. Since she was so carefree that led people into believing that they could easily start rumors about her, and sometimes rummors about her and her current fling. She let them say whatever they wanted, and she really didn't care. She knew a lot of people that could harm them, though she had never really did that. It would be yet another thing to add to her list of criminal records. To name a few of them she had stolen a car. That was a big long events. She had pretty much just hung around with the wrong people and got herself into many situations where it was hard to escape them. She had been caught trafficing drugs. Again, wrong people. Some friends needed the drugs to be delivered to other people. Most of the time she was delivery girl pretty much. Whether someone had stolen a car in order to get money, she was always the one that had to drop off the stolen vehicle, get the money, and try to do it without getting caught by the police. Only one time had she got caught, and it was a rare occasion. The reason was being that the police were on there way, and she was the type of person who didn't rat out her so called friends. So when they left, the person who owned the house where she was dropping off the car, would get blamed. She wouldn't do that, so took the blame. She told the police it was all her own doing, and she didn't yet meet the person who was planning on taking the car and drugs. It was pretty intense.
Tonight was yet another one of the nights that Brooklyn had decided to sneak out of her cabin. The councelor had kind of caugh on to girls sneaking out, so she had put some tricky lock on the door. Of course, she had forgotten about the window. Brooklyn climbed out simply, and began to wander off into the distance. Today she actually had a destination however. Mearly because she had only been there once, and thought it would look pretty sick at night. Once again, she didn't know whether or not somebody would show up, but she was of course hoping that someone in partcular would show up. He seemed to catch on to Brooklyn and her wierd liking to sneaking out, and just hanging out alone outdoors, so she kind of assumed he would come out sooner or later. The night was somewhat warmer then it was the past nights, it was really nice for summer. The girl made her way to the pool, that was actually somewhat far from her cabin. She attempted to be quiet, though managing to step on some branches every now and then. She had also caught on that people here were pretty heavy sleepers. She had fallen, ran into things, etc, and no one had yet found her out there. Really, what was the worst that they could do, kick her out? She could deal with that, maybe. Now that things had changed it was all different. Oh well.
The girl had neared the pool, and unlatched the door which was actually quite noisy and obnoxious really. She walked in slowly, but yet to no noise of heels. Yes, when she snuck out at night she didn't wear her beloved heels. It was just not necessary, and therefore she didn't. Her silver flats tapped quietly against the ground instead, as she made her way over to the ledge of the pool. The girl found an obviously empty chair, that didn't look like some dirty and sweaty person had sat on it, and layed down, bending her knee's up only slightly. No, she didn't plan on just sitting there, so the girl had brought a 'Vogue' magazine. Even though she didn't seem like the type of girl to be interested in something such as fashion so deeply, but it was really one of her passions. She had always loved fashion, ever since she began to shop on her own, or stolen clothes in the past. She just had a passion for it. It was always her dream to become a fashion designer, or something along the lines of that, but she didn't know whether or not that would actually be possible. Her aunt and uncle were rich, so they could pay for it and everything, but she didn't know whether or not they would let her in. Either way, she would draw up random designs, which she tended to do when bored. There were a lot of designs on the pages of these magazines, that she had drawn when she had already read the whole thing.
Brooklyn was wearing black denim skinny jeans, which she adored. For some reason she just loved the look of skinny jeans, and pretty much the way they looked on her. Not going to lie, right. For a top there was a red lengthly tank top, simply topped off with a black belt across her waist. Today, she had actually decided to wear her hair differently, and she hadn't showered yet today due to the gross fact all the other girls in the cabin had before her. She just thought it was a wee tad disturbing. Her long and dark hair was curled lightly, yet still keeping it's length. As of make-up, she had done her eyes in some sort of a smoky manner, in attempts to play up her blue eyes. She loved messing around with make-up, and clothing. Underneath of course, was a black and white polka dotted bikini. It was simple, and she loved the color black, so it all worked out wonderfully. If she felt the need, she could go for a quiet swim.

He shouldn’t have to be doing this. Kade hadn’t exactly signed up for the job of babysitter this summer. He was a counselor, which was really the same thing when one thought about it, but he didn’t think that it would be like this. The boys in his cabin and most of the campers at this camp were ones that were close to his own age. Going on that, Kade had thought that they could at least half way look out for themselves, go by the rules, and when they did things to bend the rules, do it a smart way and not get caught. He shouldn’t have had to watch their every move and tell them how to go about things the right way, the way that wouldn’t land their asses in some serious trouble, but yet that seemed to be all he did. It was like these boys, this group of five or six of them in particular, didn’t know what they hell they were doing. For all Kade knew, they didn’t know what they were doing, they had never attempted things like this before in the past, and were just acting all tough and bad ass just to fit in with their cabin mates. Whatever it was, Kade could not even believe he had tried to help them, and as a result gotten burned for it. The other boys of the Yellowstone cabin were masters at sneaking around without getting caught, but this misfit group definitely lacked in that area, and Kade, having a momentary feeling of pity for them, and taken them under his wing that night and tried to help them out to have a little fun in the cover of the night when the campers were really supposed to be asleep. Kade didn’t mind being the one to corrupt and teach these boys the ways of the slightly darker side, but if he was going to take the time and be the babysitter and risk being with these guys, then they had better listen to him. At that moment, they were not.
Kade hadn’t taken the time to learn names, but the tall, gangly one with the dark hair stepped on every branch that there was, despite Kade’s warning to watch their step and to make as little noise as possible. Another one, the shorter, stockier one had an annoying way of breathing, which Kade guessed wasn’t really the kid’s fault, but it didn’t help his case any. Then, there was the skater jerk that thought this was just the coolest thing, and that he knew all about it now that Kade was with them. The remaining members of the bunch weren’t bad, but this one made up for all of them in the way of talking and trying to boss the others when he really had no idea what the hell he was doing. It wasn’t like there was a lot to the sneaking out thing, but these kids were going to get caught, and Kade was not going to go down with them just because one of them couldn’t keep their mouth shut. Kade was leading them down by one part of the lake, where they had originally been headed to meet up with some other boys from their cabin, but now he stopped and turned to face the sad excuse for Yellowstone cabin members. ”You know what, let’s just forget it. Go back to the cabin,” he said in a slightly harsh, low tone. The mouthy one just looked at the counselor for a moment before narrowing his beady little eyes and saying no, he wanted to keep going. Kade felt his own dark hazel eyes narrow in response. ”Okay, bad ass, you stay out here and get caught, but I’m not risking my job just because you can’t keep your damn mouth shut.” For some reason, that seemed to get the others to all mentally agree to head back to the cabin, and they all turned and headed in that direction. The skater kid stayed, obviously pissed at Kade for no reason. Well, Kade could get pissy too. ”I said go back, and if I catch your ass out here later, I won’t think twice about turning you in.” Skater kid continued to glare at Kade for another minute or so before he finally turned and followed the others back to the cabin. Kade watched until he couldn’t see him anymore, then turned and started on his own way.
Deciding not to head to the lake, Kade ended up walking aimlessly around the camp in the dark of the night, upset over more than just the fact that he had some bratty camper that didn’t know when to give it up. Kade should have had more patience with those other campers instead of sending them all back. Granted, Kade wasn’t known for having patience of gold and being good with younger kids. Actually, he didn’t have a lot patience most days and didn’t do well with the younger set at all, but those other campers hadn’t deserved to be snapped at like that. It seemed that Kade had been snapping a lot over the last few days. When the campers didn’t deserve it, just like the situation that had just occurred, Kade felt bad about it. When they really did deserve it and Kade went overboard with it, he didn’t feel as bad, but he knew that he was taking out his anger and frustration on people that didn’t deserve it. So far this summer, he had been the fun counselor, the one that the campers came to when they wanted to laugh and have a good time. The last few days, he hadn’t been that way. He had tried, but with everything else going on in his life, it wasn’t easy, and a lot of the time it got the best of him. Kade knew that he was going to have to get a grip, and that he couldn’t keep snapping at the people and being in these awful moods of his, but it was easier said than done. If the campers that he had snapped at knew the reason behind his mood, then most probably wouldn’t blame him at all. But, they didn’t know, and they all probably just thought that he was just being an ass for no apparent reason that they could see. Kade could just tell them that on top of still being horribly traumatized by his brother’s death, having nightmares about it, dealing with not one, but two ex-girlfriends and a new girlfriend that he had to keep his relationship with a secret, that he now had a three-year-old daughter to deal with too. Ha. Yeah, that wasn’t going to happen.
God, it really was a wonder that the boy could function at all. These last few mornings, Kade really did wonder if it was worth even getting out of bed. He still wasn’t sleeping well, but the little sleep that he did get before the nightmares showed up again was a nice retreat from everything else in his life. He could just say that he wasn’t feel well and that someone else would have to cover for him that day. And then the next day, and the next. Kade knew how that would go, and he knew that would just be taking the easy way out. No, he would get up and face everyday, even if he didn’t have a very good attitude about it. If the camp thought that he was unable to serve as counselor, they would let him go, and them letting him go would be reason enough for him to be sent home to Seattle, the last place on earth that he wanted to be. But, Kade wasn’t really doing everything that he could to make sure that he wasn’t fired from this camp, either. He could get fired for breaking the rules, and that was something that he was most certainly doing. Kade wasn’t supposed to be helping campers sneak out, he was supposed to be keeping them from doing it. He also wasn’t supposed to allow them to drink or do drugs or have sex or any of that good stuff, but he was the supplier of the booze from time to time, and drank and did a little bit of drugs here and there with the campers. Not too much, and nothing major, but he was still taking part in it. When it came to sex, Kade just told the guys not to go whoring around too much, but if that was their decision, use protection. Counselors weren’t supposed to engage in relationships other than just friends with campers, but Kade was breaking that rule, too. Brooklyn McKenzie was the girl that had caught the eye of every guy at this camp, but Kade was the lucky one that got to call her his. Of course, no one could know that because if they did, he wouldn’t be working at the camp anymore. But, these were all things that could be snuck under the camp authority without being noticed. Him being sick and not doing his duties as counselor wasn’t. So, he kept up with his job, but that didn’t mean that he was doing very good with it.
Kade was broken out of his thoughts when he heard a sound from somewhere in the distance. It wasn’t something like a twig snapping, or any other kind of nature noise, but one that had sounded more metallic. Like the pool entrance? Kade instinctively headed in that direction. He knew that sometimes campers snuck out for a midnight swim or something of the like, and was almost sure that this was a situation like that, but one never knew. There was also a little hope within him that wanted to run into one camper in particular, Miss Brooklyn. He hadn’t meant to avoid her the last few days, but with his horrible mood, it was probably better that he hadn’t had a lot of time to sneak off and be with her. At the moment though, he thought that maybe part of his bad mood was because he hadn’t been around her much. Brooklyn had a way of making him smile, even when he didn’t want to, and of making him feel like he really wasn’t carrying around everything that he was. But, then again, he knew that she deserved to know about this latest development, and that he was going to have to tell her sooner or later. Even with that in mind, he still wanted to see her, and found that he was in luck once he arrived at the pool and let himself in to find Brooklyn on one of the many lounge chairs, a magazine holding her interest. A small smile, this one not having to be forced, came to his lips. How about that, something had worked out for him. Not only was it Brooklyn, but she was by herself, making this a moment one that they didn’t have to pretend that they weren’t together when they really were. ”You really have no fear of breaking the rules, do you?” he asked with a small laugh as he came over and sat on the edge of her chair, eyes looking over the magazine in her hands. Vogue. Kade didn’t have a great understanding of fashion, but he knew that it was something that was important to Brooklyn, so he would respect that whether he got it or not.
ooc;; sorry bout crappy ending. i just wanted to finish it so i could get it posted for you.

It was wierd how Brooklyn could sneak out every night, and never get sick of it. Whether it was the thrill of breaking a simple and somewhat strict rule, or maybe it was the time that it gave her to just relax and be by herself for a bit, she liked it. She wasn't expecting to get caught either. Most of the coucelors were all for getting to sleep early, because everyone, especially them, had to get up early to wake up completely and wake up the lazy campers. Brooklyn was normally the one who would sleep in. The girl always had difficulties waking up early. The normal time for her to wake up would most likely be around twelve o'clock at the earliest. Normally it was because she can't seem to fall asleep before midnight. Other reasons would be that she was normally out partying until really late at night, and just never got around to actually sleeping. Yeah, her schedule was never something that she actually took seriously. Most people would worry about having school the next day and being tired, but that really was another thing that she had never really cared about in the past. Of course, various times she had actualy cared, maybe had a test or something and decided that it might be a good idea to sleep or get studying in, but she was definately not paranoid about it. There was one class however that she actually enjoyed, and it was fashion. It was a pretty sick class to have, seeing as all you did was make clothing, that you could actually wear afterwards, and you learned a lot about the history of it. She did really good in that class, and always did her homework. It only went to show that when she set her mind to accomplishing something, she could actually do good in those categories. Like fashion. And when she was younger, she went to school everyday and studied. She was actually smart, and got good grades. Until everything started going downhill, her attitude changed, aswell as her grades and other important things in her life. They seemed to not matter as much as other things as the time went on.
Although it had always been Brooklyn's nature to just not care about anything that she really should care about, lately she had been kind of paying attention to what the camp had to say, and obeying some of the rules. Obviously not sneaking out, becuase she just wouldn't stop doing that. For one, that was mostly because Kade and her could spend time together. The whole forbidden thing was really fun and mysterious, but it was also kind of frustrating at time because she couldn't just hang out like normaly couples do when out in public with the other campers. But lately, the girl had actually been paying attention to some of the activities that they had forced her to do. She couldn't say that she thoroughly enjoyed them, but something about Kade working here, made her kind of want to try harder. In case anyone ever found out, maybe they'd be even more mad because of the way she was. Sure, it was against the rules but the fact that it was with Brooklyn, the girl who didn't listen, who was from juvie, that made things a whole lot different. She knew she was treated differently, and she knew that if he had been dating some sweet obedient girl, they may have just let it slide. Some minds, are not worth changing. she wouldn't go all hardcore, and wake up early just to go eat all the breakfast food supplied and thoroughly try to win all of the games that they play. It just wasn't her scene, but she was indeed making some sort of an effort not to look like such a complete waste of a person.
As Brooklyn was finishing up reading an article in a magazine about an internship contest or something, she attempted to pry her eyes off of the page. Eventually the icy blue's managed to shoot in the directiong of the person whohad just entered the small area along with her. A smile tugged at the corners of her lips as soon as the girl could notice who the figure was. It was indeed Kade, in other words, her boyfriend technically, who had came in here. She didn't know whether or not he had came here knowing that she would be here, and just came to check it out, or if he had heard her. Of course, she would prefer that he had come looking for her, but she kind of doubted it. It almost felt as if the boy had been avoiding her these past like three or so days. She had kind of seen him around when activities were going on or something but he had never yet came over to talk to her. It's not like he really could, but still. By this point, she knew for sure that he knew she snuck out nearly every night, to just relax or wait for him, but he didn't show up. It was slightly dissapointing, but who knows, maybe he had other places to be or kids to watch out for. She'd most likely find out. Kade had now walked over to her and sat down on the edge of the chair. Another dissapointment, no hello kiss. Not really, but she decided she would think that. She'd bring that up later. ”You really have no fear of breaking the rules, do you?” She had heard the boy say. Yet another grin came to her face. "Mm, nope." She said, her blue eyes scanning the area before making their way back to him.
Brooklyn ran her fingers through her dark hair, as she set the magazine down lightly on the ground beside her. She made sure of course, that it was still opened to the page she was reading only moments before. She would get back to that later. The girl sat up completely, with her knees still bent upwards slightly. After only looking at him for a moment, seeing as he wasn't going to say or do anything in the next couple of seconds. She decided to take matters into her own hands. "What, your alread ysick of me?" The girl said, jokingly of course, yet raising both of her dark eyebrows. "No kiss." She stated, pouting her freshly glossed bottom lip slightly. Brooklyn let out a small laugh, before lifting her hand to rest on the back of his neck, and she mearly smirked at the boy. Of course, she wouldn't keep him waiting forever so she leaned in completely so their lips were connected into a lovely kiss. Well, she hadn't seen him in a while so of course it had to be better then usual. Since her hand was on the back of his neck already, she pushed him down lightly, so she was laying against the back of the chair once again, his body was closer to hers, and her other hand connected around his neck aswell to her other hand. Eventually she decided to let go of the poor boys neck, and she lowered her head, so it was now resting on the back of the chair, even though his face was still near hers. She smiled upwards at him, her blue eyes looking into his hazel. "Kay, thanks." Brooklyn said with a quiet yet mischevious giggle.
With a small sigh, she decided it was time to question him why he had kind of been avoiding her these last couple of weeks. "So, where have you been? She said, moving over and resting on her side, with her hand propping up her head. She had tapped the spot beside her, motioning for Kade to lay down on the chair aswell. She asked out of pure curiosity, but she couldn't help wonder if there was really an intense reason why he hadn't really talked to her, maybe one that she actually didn't want to hear. But whatever. She could take anything really. Brooklyns eyes wandered until they met the slowly moving pool. The water was quite fun to watch as it flowed so steadily. It reminded her of back home. Way back home. When her dad had taught her how to surf. He said that her and the water had some sort of natural connection. She had always been really good at swimming and surfing. She loved it dearly, and actually really missed it now that she was at this camp. She obviously didn't bring the surfboard, because she didn't know whether they made trips to the good part of the ocean with the sick waves. If they did, she might be pretty pissed she didn't bring it. She could surf on any surf board, if given, but it wasn't like hers. It was kind of like going on a sleepover. You could eventually fall asleep in someone elses bed, but it wasn't like your own bed. Like the bed you slept in mosltly every night, the way it knew your body, and how you like to sleep. It was almost the same as with surfboards. You had to get used to it, and after a while it was like it didn't feel right on any other board. Her mind had wandered, which seemed to be like a habit of hers, so she soon turned her attention back to the handsome boy across from her. She bit down on her bottom lip lightly, without noticing really, aswell as waiting to hear what he had been up to.

It seemed that no matter how old he got, or who he was with or where they were at, Kade was always something like the ring leader when it came to the mischief making. Even at a young age, the boy had always had a knack for pulling pranks and finding ways to get into trouble, but never get caught doing it. Kade’s two younger brothers quickly caught onto the fact that if they wanted to do anything, they needed to have Kade in on it so that he could come up with some mastermind plan to cover for it. Of course, Kade’s ways rubbed off on both Jared and Hunter, and they were soon able to take care of themselves when it came to this, but that didn’t mean that they didn’t include Kade in on their troubling making and pranks. The three of them were more than just brothers; they were best friends as well, and it wouldn’t have been right not to have all three of them involved. This carried over into the summers that Kade and his family spent in North Carolina. Kade was the oldest of the children there, that included his brothers, the Morgan girls, and a few other kids that got thrown into the play groups. But, it wasn’t his age that got him the title of ring leader among that set of kids. It was the fact that his brothers knew that Kade would look out and take care of them and have some genius plan in his head before anyone else to get around to thinking about it, and they were quick to follow him. The others naturally followed suite, and in time they learned what Kade was capable of and didn’t question him. That seemed to be how things had picked up here at this camp, too, even though Kade should have really been acting more like an adult and a counselor instead of ringleader. When he had first arrived at this camp, the campers had been weary of him, not quite knowing what to expect. The guys in his cabin had been especially weary, and hadn’t really believed Kade when he had told them that he could sneak them in and out of the cabin and have these parties without getting caught. Now though, much like the group of kids from years ago, they didn’t question him.
Except for that one little snot nosed brat that had really set Kade in a bad mood earlier. Kade had never been one for kids, and while this one had been older, Kade still couldn’t stand him. It was kind of ironic, actually, when you consider that Kade actually had a kid of his own, but not a lot of people knew about that, so the irony was hardly recognized. It was just something about small children and the way that they acted that really seemed to send him over the edge, and Kade hadn’t really realized how much that one, idiotic camper had gotten to him until he had sat down with Brooklyn by the camp pool. He could feel all the stress and tension pulling at him, but at the same time, he could feel it starting to release and leave him as suddenly as it had hit him. It was odd, but he couldn’t complain. Kade knew that he had been neglecting Brooklyn, and he didn’t want to spend this time that he had with her being cranky and pissed off at the world. She was already starting to have that calming effect on him, just with the little grin that came to her lips at his question. ”Mm, nope.” Her answer wasn’t one that struck as any kind of surprise to Kade. The question had been asked as more of a teasing, almost sarcastic one. Of course she wasn’t afraid to break the rules. Kade knew that Brooklyn snuck out almost every night, and then there was the fact that she was his girlfriend, and that was a big break of the rules right there. But, neither of them seemed to be all that mindful of the rules, and that was a good thing. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have dared cross that line and be how they are now, and that would really be a shame. His hazel eyes watched as she carefully sat down her magazine and then sat up, bringing herself that much closer to him. Kade knew that he should have said something other than what he did, or at least have tried to come up with a better greeting than what he had, and now it seemed that Brooklyn was thinking along those same lines.
”What, you’re already sick of me?” No, there was no way that Kade could ever see himself being sick of this girl that sat before him. Through his eyes, she really was everything, and he didn’t see how he would ever get sick of being with someone that was as understanding of him as she was, and connected to him so deeply that at times it was almost surreal. That, and she was drop dead gorgeous. ”No kiss.” Had Kade been in any kind of a better mood, he most likely would have made a hello kiss the first thing that he did upon finding Brooklyn here at the pool. They weren’t like all the other couples that could just kiss, or even hold hands, whenever they wanted. They had to wait for these kind of moments when they could steal away to themselves and know that no one else was watching, or at least hope that they weren’t, anyway. Kade should have taken immediate advantage of this time that they had, but he hadn’t and he felt bad about it, but not for long. It seemed that Brooklyn was going to take this one into her own hands, and Kade certainly didn’t mind as her hand lay on his neck. Their lips met in a kiss that had been long in waiting, and was finally happening. He felt the light pressure applied by her hand that pulled him along with her as she leaned back, and did nothing to resist it. God, if only he could just escape into this world right here, where it was just him and her without any of their other problems and just live out the rest of his life in that kind of bliss. Too bad life wasn’t that easy, and that he had gone and screwed it up to the point where something like that happening was next to impossible. He didn’t let those kind of thoughts ruin the moment, though. Kade’s mind was with Brooklyn and in that kiss that whole time, and he really hated to part with that moment as he felt her arms slide away from his neck and their lips break in their connection. Once that kiss was done, that meant they would be starting with the talking, and talking wasn’t necessarily a good thing at this point, not when he had so much to tell her that wasn’t something that was she was going to want to hear. But, maybe he could stall and put it off for a little while longer and enjoy the good moment while it still lingered over them.
”’Kay, thanks.” The little giggle that came with those few words of hers got Kade grinning as he looked down into her gorgeous face. ”Not a problem,” he said, his tone quiet and playful. He would never have a problem with kissing her as long as they were together. Actually, it was the opposite. There were times when Kade saw Brooklyn out and about, or when he was actually in close proximity to her that he had a hard time acting as though they were just friends and keeping himself from reaching out to her. He was just glad for times like this one that he didn’t have to hold back and keep himself in check all the time. Brooklyn readjusted herself on the chair so that she was lying on her side, and motioned for Kade to take the space beside of her. He did, moving carefully so that he didn’t make an idiot of himself by falling to the ground or somehow managing to flip the chair completely over. Kade found himself lying in the chair much like Brooklyn was, him facing her, propping his head up with his hand while the other slowly trailed along her arm, feeling her smooth, warm skin beneath his palm. ”So, where have you been?” That was the question that she had asked him, and Kade was really trying to come up with an accurate way of answering this. His hazel eyes had been watching the movement of his hand over her skin, but they now moved to meet her dazzling blue gaze. ”To hell and back is what I would call it,” he said quietly, wondering if that made as much sense out loud as it did in his mind. That was really talking about his life in general, though. She was inquiring as to where he had been when he had been more or less avoiding her. ”There’s just been a lot to deal with, I guess, and none of it very much fun to think about.” That was an understatement if there ever was one. One of those small, seemingly perfect grins of his came to his lips then as he leaned in a little closer to her. ”But, I’m with you now, and that makes everything better.” Kade used to think people saying things like that was absolutely corny, and he wouldn’t be caught dead saying it. Now, he realized that it really was the truth when people felt that way, and while it still may sound corny, there really was nothing corny about it.
That was when he stole another kiss, much shorter than the first of the evening, but just as intoxicating and hard to break away from. When that connection was broken once again, Kade let his forehead rest gently against Brooklyn’s, still grinning that grin of his and loving every bit of this closeness that they were sharing. He knew better than to think that they could just ignore the horrible mood he had been in all week and everything that he had been dealing with and move on like nothing had happened at all, but it was nice just to take in that sweet moment while it lasted. Because, Kade was very sure that once he let Brooklyn in on what had been going on with him and in on this latest secret of his, the good feelings would all be gone and there would probably be a lot of explaining to be done on his end, and a lot of apologizing too. Or, maybe she would be understanding and he wouldn’t have to work his way out of the dog house or try to avoid a break up. God, that would be horrible if it got that far, and the only thing he had was to hope that she just got a little upset at the most. While they hadn’t been together all that long, he wasn’t willing to lose her just yet, but him and his damn screw ups were definitely going to be the test of what was really there, or what wasn’t there, between them.

Throughout today, Brooklyn hadn't really accomplished much. Though, so did in fact participate more then the girl normally did. She had decided to actually get out of bed when her camp couselor, Chrissy woke her. Of course it took a lot more then just turning the lights on, like it took for most of the other girls. A few of them had to actually take the blanket off of her, yell in her ear, and shake her like a mad woman. Yes, Brooklyn was a tough person to wake up. She had always been a really heavy sleeper. Most of the time it was due to the fact that she had dreams that were pretty intense every single night. Whether it was in some random fantasy world, or whether she was surfing. Any dream she had, they were really long and hard to break away from. She always seemed to find a deeper meaning in them. Her aunt was a pshyciatrist and she knew all about crazy dreams and stuff, so Brooklyn always found it interesting what her dreams supposedly meant. Not that she believed everything that her Aunt had told her about them, it was still interesting to hear. Some of them actually fit in with what was going on. After she had completely woken up and took nearly a half an hour shower, she had gotten changed and made her way out to follow the already completely prepared campers. Chrissy had told them that they would be going out on the canoe's, and Brooklyn was actually pretty happy that the day she decided to participate, it was a water activity. She was pretty much good at any activity involving water, so she was prepared. They had races, and swam and just all hung out. Later on, some yellowstone boys came and hung out. It was a wee tad awkward, but they all went swimming and such. Brooklyn wasn't sure whether Kade was there or not. He might of been avoiding her, or maybe she was too busy with other people to actually look for him.
Following the kiss, Kade had replied to Brooklyns remark. "Not a problem,” Brooklyn nodded, with a wide smile still lingering on her face momentarily. Now it was time for him to explain where he had been these last few days. It's not like she was mad or anything. The boy worked here, so she was expecting some boring answer about taking care of bratty first years or something. Nothing too interesting, but something that would cover the whole thing up nicely. And if Kade was lying, she'd be able to tell. She was good with knowing and noticing lies. A lot of people acted the same way when they were lying. Some of them showed it well, without knowing. Whether it was not making eye contact, or twiddling their fingers, there is always a way to find out. It's also easy, seeing as you could probably say Brooklyn was a genious at lying. As he got to the point, she was ready to listen. ”To hell and back is what I would call it,” When Kade had said that, she was a little bit suprised. What at camp, could possibly be that horrible. I mean, the food was not that great all the time, and the beds could be more comfortable but it didn't seem like it could be as bad as he had made it out to be. She really did want to know, but it seemed like he had more to say. As of now, she wasn't afraid of not asking him. She would ask him because she deserved to know. If he was hiding something from her, that would be pretty depressing but she assumed that it was just something to do with remembering his past or his mom calling him, or something along the lines of that. ”There’s just been a lot to deal with, I guess, and none of it very much fun to think about.” Brooklyn now lowerred her head, and rested it down against the back of the chair, every now and then she would glance up at him. She took in the last part of what he had said. Okay, now it was starting to sound really confusing. "Such as? She asked simply, now turning so she was lying on her back, and looking upward at the stars. Well, she was really so it seems she was able to lay that way without shoving Kade off the chair, although she wasn't entirely on it. It was good enough.
The next line that came out of Kade's mouth, forced somewhat loud laughter to escape her lips. It was so cheesy, yet cute. ”But, I’m with you now, and that makes everything better.” To top it off, he had kissed her once again. She didn't object to it in anyway. In fact, she loved kisses. Brooklyn smiled upward at him, which looked as if she was about to laugh, yet instead she raised her hand to the back of his neck, mearly to twirl some random pieces of hair and such. But now she was really curious in finding out what exactly the boy was talking about. She decided to call him out on his lame little line, even though it was pretty cute and got a good chuckle out of her. "Hm, a bit cheesy. But I'll take it." Brooklyn said, smiling mischeviously up at the boy above her, tucking her head into his chest lightly as her laughter began to slow down. A loud sigh then came from her as she had reposotioned herself once again, into her former position so she was looking upwards. She couldn't help but let her mind wander. She thought about what he was going to say, and how bad it was going to be. I mean, it was probably nothing really but still, it was silent and she had nothing better to think about at the moment. Even if it was something bad, she wasn't frightened or worried. She could probably take anything, depending on how deep it would hurt. Plus, she had her ways of hiding how she really felt. With everyone. Even with Kade, she would probably hide how she really felt in most situations, even though they were going out. It was just a really bad habit. She almost felt insecure when she let people in, it was wierd but she couldn't help it.

Throughout all of high school, Kade’s reputation varied, but always played along the same lines. There were the people that saw him as a jock, the football guy that had a pretty good future laid out before him in the sport. Others knew him as the party goer, the one that made any party a little better, and knew how to throw a damn good party himself. Then, there were the ones that saw him as the player, the guy that had girls in a line even though they knew that it wouldn’t last, but hey, maybe that’s what they wanted. Still, other people that knew Kade saw the kind side of him, the boy that would go out of his way to help out in any way that he could. There are people out there that would argue that one person could not possibly be all of these things, but Kade defied that logic and really was the a combination of each of these put together to make him the person that he was. In high school, there isn’t a lot of chance to make people see that you are more than just the jock or the partier or the player. They label you once, and that is all you get. But, there were some people that got to see all the parts of Kade and knew who he was. Yeah, he played football, and he followed that up with partying and sleeping around, but he was also a guy that you could count on to be nice and friendly whenever you crossed paths with him. That is, until after his brother’s death when he developed his slightly colder side, but that isn’t the point. Perhaps it was that other part of him that gave him the ability to give up the game and stay loyal to just one girl. Many of the player types out there never thought of letting themselves get tied down to just one person, and Kade followed that guideline to this certain point. Then, there was that part of him that actually realized he had a heart and a good side that would bend that rule a little, letting his feelings get in and let him quit the game of breaking hearts and taking names.
That was what had landed him with Chrissy Maddison three years ago. At first, it had just been the physical attraction, followed with some of that nice flirting that everyone enjoys. When the dating idea first came up, Kade had gone along with it simply because he didn’t want to hurt her feelings and turn her down right off, but as time went on, the feelings came, and he realized that it wasn’t going to be a quick thing that was over before it had even really started. Kade had really let himself into that relationship, and everyone that saw them together swore up and down that they would be the couple that last. Until she moved away, that is. The ended the relationship, and though Kade had been a little hurt by it, he had quickly bounced back and picked up on the game again. About a year later, Kade would find himself falling for yet another girl, this one by the name of Brittany Morgan. They were childhood friends, and it seemed that as they had grown up together, their feelings had grown into something much greater than friendship. Love came easy to them, even with Kade’s family falling apart and all the other mishaps that occurred during the time that they were together. Kade made a mistake of leaving her once, but Brit had taken him back, and it seemed that after that they would never be apart again. He even had it in his mind that he was done looking; this girl was it. Too bad that didn’t last. Because of one misunderstanding, their relationship ended in a bitter argument. In each of these relationships, Kade’s heart had come out of hiding and let him open up to someone, which was something that happened very rarely. Each time, he had gotten burned and had felt pain from the losses, and at one point, he had sworn off serious relationships and decided to just play the field and enjoy himself. And then Brooklyn McKenzie came along.
Maybe it was the fact that they shared similar pasts and could relate to one another one so many different subjects. They could both connect on a level of understanding that no one else around them seemed to be able to comprehend. Them as a couple just felt right, and Kade enjoyed that feeling. At first, he had been somewhat resistant, still under the way of thinking that he wasn’t going to get caught up in a relationship again, but that came to be impossible the more he became drawn to Brooklyn. Now, here they were in a relationship, one that no one else could know about, lying on a lounge chair by a pool. They were laughing at cheesy lines and kissing and cuddling. This wasn’t something that Kade was used to, but he wasn’t minding it one bit. In fact, it was something that he wouldn’t mind getting used to at all. But, Kade had just made a mistake in saying that he had been to hell and back. Of course she would ask what that meant, or what had happened. ”Such as?” The answer to that simple little question was going to ruin the moment between them, and that was a real shame. They didn’t get many moments like this, but Kade knew better than to try and lie to cover it up. Kade was good at lying when he wanted to be, and he could lie to Brooklyn, but he wouldn’t feel right doing it, and it would eat him alive. So no, lying wasn’t an option here. He was going to have to tell Brooklyn what had made his week so miserable, but he didn’t really know how to go about telling his girlfriend that an ex of his had shown up and told him he had a three-year-old daughter. Thankfully, that wasn’t something that he had had a lot of practice in doing. Kade didn’t even know what he was going to do about this yet. He and Chrissy hadn’t really gotten to talk about it, but he knew that they would have to sooner or later. Then, he was going to have figure out how to tell his parents about this. His father he didn’t care much about. His mother, though, that would be the tough one. While Marion knew full and well that her oldest son wasn’t innocent and was in no way still a virgin, telling her about this child was going to be hard. However, right now he imagined that telling Brooklyn might be a little harder, and definitely more dangerous. His mother would always be his mother; Brooklyn could easily break up with him and leave.
A sigh passed through his lips as he thought about how to word this to cause the least amount of pain possible. Kade didn’t like to beat around the bush when it came to talking about things, but easing into this one was probably better. ”Okay, so it’s pretty much a given that neither of are exactly innocent, and that we’ve had our fair share of experience.” Kade was far from innocent, and while they hadn’t come right out and talked about it, he and Brooklyn had kind of hit on the subject here and there. Kade wished that he could just stop with the fact that yes, he had indeed slept with a number of different girls in the past instead of going on to tell her what had happened as a result of that. ”And you know that I used to live in Seattle. Three years back, Chrissy Maddison used to live there too. I met her at school, and one thing led to another, and we were together.” God, how he wished this explanation stopped here. ”I had no idea that I was going to run into her at this camp, but when I did, she comes out and tells me that she has a daughter, and I’m the father. I want to say it wasn’t true, but it is.” For the life of him, Kade couldn’t figure out how the hell it had happened. He of course knew how, but he was always careful and didn’t mess around when it came to that sort of thing. But, no birth control is absolutely guaranteed, and that was something that usually had to be learned the hard way. Kade looked down into Brooklyn’s blue eyes, hoping to see even just a smidge of understanding there, like he usually saw there. Though, if he didn’t see it, he would be the one that was understanding. This was something pretty huge to just drop on someone, and he hadn’t reacted so well when Chrissy had told him about it. He had actually been mean, which he hadn’t much liked after he realized it, but it had come without him having much control over it. Now, he had only to wait and see what kind of luck was on his side tonight with Brooklyn.

Brooklyn had a tendency to let her mind wander. When there were those silences, which didn't bother her at all, she always let it do so. As of now, she was quite happy with this whole situation. Even though they had to be super careful, she was still happy. Which was an odd thing for Brooklyn. Whenever she was with Kade she felt like she was safe, and she wasn't the only person who didn't know what it felt like to go through so many horrible situations. She knew that the boy had gone through especially one situation that was hard. Something that no one should have to go through. And although it sounds mean, it made her feel a lot better. He understood her, and she didn't have to try to act like everthing was okay. She didn't hide anything from him, and she hoped that he was the same way. It did seem, however, that he was about to tell her something, whether she liked it or not. She had asked for it, so she was expecting the worst and hoping for the best. Which is pretty much how a lot of situations went for her. She was kind of thinking this would be a different type of situation however. Just becuase it was Kade, and she thought that everything was behind them. But you never really know. This world can throw you crazy things, if you want them or not eventually your going to have to learn to accept them. She had tryed to learn that lesson, but it was kind of like a little kid trying to learn math. You know you have to, but you really don't think you should and quite frankly you really don't want to. A tough situation, but right now all she could hope for was that Kade wasn't about to blurt out anything horrible that would just ruin everything.
Brooklyn's blue eyes scanned the boy whom she was secretly dating. She recalled her other relationships, none of which really compared to this. Most of the time her 'boyfriend' was the boy who all the girls fell for, but everyone was too afraid to talk to. Or the bad boy, who most people who afraid to talk to but secretly admired. Most of the time, it was becuase they were good looking and Brooklyn was no where near shy. But this was different. She had never actually connected like this with anyone. It was kind of scary to her, but the feeling was undescribably. She loved it, really. Plus, when she sees something that she wants. She will most definately get it, or try her best at least. That's just always how it pretty much was. Brooklyn never was the girl who got everything that she wanted, thanks to her parents pretty pennies. Sure, her aunt and uncle supplied her with whatever she needed, but not everything she wanted right when she wanted it. There were most definately gifts, but unlike the other kids where she lived in California. It was very stereotypical. Especially her area, which might of been known as the rich area. She didn't really want to live there, of course she'd rather live in New York, but she didn't complain. They lived right on the beach, the ocean was their backyard. She loved the ocean. Whenever there was a slight chance that she would wake up easly, that is where she would go. The water. Mostly to surf. A lot of girls went there to show off their bodies in which they were so proud of, and just lay in the sand scoping out the lifeguards and boys. Well, every now and then we would like to do that, but most of the time she couldn't resist but get on her surfboard and go to the water. It was like her escape.
That also made her life that much more confusing. Brooklyn had thought about what to do with her life over and over again. She was eighteen, and if she wanted to she could go back to New York and just live there, trying to be happy. But there were other things that she didn't tell anybody. Things that left her embarrased and confused, and she really didn't know what to do. Shje loved living in Cali, for more then just the surfing. it was just all around agood place to be. But then there was New York. Brooklyn to be precise, the place where she was born and all of her memories were made. The memories in which she took everywhere and wished to relive. Though she couldn't she always wondered what would happened if she returned. As far as she knew her mom and dad still lived in that small area she had lived until she was forced in for a better life with her aunt and uncle. Then there was that little thing she was hiding from everybody. The story was true that she told them, that her parents said that one day they could possibly be together agani, and be as a normal family would. But that wouldn't happen. They couldn't just be a normal family again. The last time she had talked to her parents on the phone, was probably right before she came to this camp. She wished she could tell them she came here by choice, and that she had calmed down and started to obey the rules, but she couldn't. They found out all of the stuff she had done, and that she was forced into coming there. She felt horrible. She felt like she was letting them down, and it was just another reason for them to not want to see her. They didn't know everything though. It was like if they only gave her a chance, she knew that she could do better if she was with them. But she didn't know. She didn't even know who she was sometimes. But, it seemed Kade knew who Brooklyn was. Which she loved.
And there it was. Kade had finally said what he had to say. And to tell you the truth, Brooklyn was kind of shocked. She wanted to say so many things, but none of them came out at this moment. All she happened to do, was stare up at the stars above her, pretty much wishing that they could just take her up there with them. After she realized she couldn't her insticts were telling her otherwise. Run. But she didn't want to. Why didn't she want to? Run! Her inside voice kept on telling her, and it was pretty much driving her insane. Brooklyn sat up off the chair, her back now in his direction. She was growing weak and wasn't as strong as she had been when he saw her other times, and she didn't seem to show anyone that side of her. There was the gate right over there, she was thinking as she darted her head in that direction. But no, somehow she wouldn't. Kade had that effect on her, that she just couldn't leave. Flashes of her parents dropping her off and leaving her there ran through her mind. Why would she want to do that to this boy now? She had done that to people in the past, but that was only because they connected on a level lower then anything near what she had with this boy. Now Brooklyn unusually let out a small laugh, as she was still facing the opposite direction then the boy. Of course this had to happen to her. She was freaking Brooklyn Mckenzie, everything seemed to happen to her. This was nothing new. "Of course." She said quietly, as she looked over quickly to the pool. That was it. That was the way she could escape, without really leaving.
Others may find it wierd, but Brooklyn liked it and since when was she the type of girl to care what others thought about her. She would do what she wanted, and when she wanted. She stood up and undid her belt, as she sighed quietly, looking at Kade just to see his face only briefly. As she was slowly undoing it, she saw a familiar look in his face. One that she had many times before. When she was forced into telling principles everything about her, or when the people at Juvie wouldn't let her go until she said everything. It was pretty much torture. At this point, she didn't know what to do. She had undid the black leathered belt, and she placed it carefully on a different chair beside her. She didn't want to ruin it of course, it was her favourite one. After a while Brooklyn had taken off the clothing that was on top of the bathing suit she wore. The skinny jeans, and the red shirt were resting in her hand. Although she threw them gently at Kade to hold or at least put in a dry spot near where they were sitting, before she went in the water. Now she was standing there in her bathing suit, in the middle of the night. She wasn't going to just stand there whether Kade wanted her to or not. "Hold these." She said as she made a run toward the pool, and a simple dive occured as soon as she hit the edge. There she had it. The water. It was nothing like the ocean, in fact it was very different. But either way, it felt good to her. When she went under the water, it refreshed her and for that moment she forgot about everything. Soon enough she had came back up and she floated on her back, moving ever so slowly not attempting to make any eye contact.
This situation was so wierd. What kind of camp was this. She had met Kade, which she was so happy about but then again, this of course had to happen. Definately she wasn't expecting anything like this, at all. I mean, a child? A kid? How was she going to deal with this. "How long did you know? She said, slightly stroking her way along the medium-sized pool. Which struck her as odd, was the mother. Chrissy Madison. That was definately suprising. From what she had seen Chrissy was nothing like Brooklyn. Definately not. And there was only one reason that she could think that Chrissy told him now. Maybe there was another, but it just came to her this way and she couldn't get rid of the though. "You do know, that she obviously wants you back." She said, as a matter of factly. You don't just tell someone you have there kid, expecting nothing to happen. "And what do you want? She asked him, only looking at him briefly before going under once more. She was scared fo his answer. This had potential to get worse. He could inf act say that he wanted to take care of the kid, and be back with Chrissy. And it scared her to death. She wasn't about to let go this fact. But Brooklyn had her ways, if he did want to leave, she would most likely act as if it didn't bother her. What had even attracted him to Brooklyn then, if he was into Chrissy Madison. "Chrissy Madison.." She said, replaying the name over and over again in her head. Her coucelor. Great, how awkward would that be. Definately one of the most awkard things in her life. There came those flashed again. Some of them that haunted her. All she could do during those were close her eyes, and float on her back. Random flashed of the car accident, of Brooklyn running over to see her two only true friends dying right before her eyes, because the boy had to fall for her. She blamed herself everyday, but told barely anyone that she felt it was her fault. At their funerals she didn't mention anything of the sort, but she felt she could of stopped it. Could she stop herself this time from ruining everything? She didn't know. Soon her eyes opened, her blue eyes looking over at Kade now, as she swam over to the side, resting her elbows on the edge of the pool. She wanted to understand this whole situation, but she couldn't help but be mad. She was definately not mother material, even though she wouldn't be the mother of the child. "Im your girlfriend.. how am I supposed to do this. If that's your kid, what does that make it to me? She said everything so confusing. She didn't want to get too intense in this thinking, but she couldn't help it. If this relationship continued further and further, then what. "Where do we go from here, Kade." She said honestly. Would she act as if the kid was her own whenever Kade had her? Just once, she wished something could go her way. Just once.

Kade had never been good with the whole sharing thing. No, not the type of sharing that is meant by splitting a sandwich with your younger brother or letting him play with a toy that you’ve been playing with for a hour now and finally letting him have his turn. That was the kind of sharing that Kade Trent had always been good with, being naturally generous and hardly ever selfish if he could help it. The kind of sharing that Kade had always had trouble with was the emotional kind, the secret kind. Of course, secrets aren’t really meant to be shared, but that isn’t the point. The point here is that Kade had never been the one that would just open up and say how he felt about something. He liked to keep things like that close and to himself. His mother had never really understood why her oldest son was so unwilling to share such things when her two younger boys seemed fine with opening up and getting their emotions out there and dealt with properly. And to be perfectly honest, Kade never understood it either. Nothing had ever happened in his lifetime to make him closed off like he was. His mother encouraged him to be open, and it is already stated that his younger brothers didn’t seem to mind it when emotions got a little out of hand and had to be put out there to be helped. Robert Trent, Kade’s father, was even a man that wasn’t afraid to cry and be publicly upset when there was a good reason for it. Rob had even taken Kade aside a few times and told his son that it was okay to cry from time to time, but Kade would just nod his head. There was just something inside of him that knew better, that told him not to go there. Keeping things inside and to himself kept them safer; it wasn’t all out there for the world to judge and to react to. That was how Kade wished that everything would stay, but there were always things that weren’t willing to be kept for long, and this thing that he had just told Brooklyn was one of them.
This situation was the perfect example of why Kade felt that it was safer to keep these kind of things to himself. If he had just gone along and not said anything, Brooklyn would still be lying beside of him in the chair, and they could be whispering sweet words and enjoying their limited time that they had to be like this with one another. Instead, he had chosen the road of telling her and letting her in, and now she was pulling away from him, just as he had feared she might. This was the reaction to be expected, but Kade really wished that it hadn’t been like that. The last thing that he wanted was for her to pull away, to feel like she needed to pull away from him. What he wanted was to pull her in closer, but by being the supposed good guy and telling her and letting her in, he had somehow, intentionally, pushed her away. He just hoped that it wasn’t enough to make her stay away. He could see in the way that she sat there that she wanted to go, and if that was what she chose to do, then he would probably turn to trying to make her come back and listen, even if that meant chasing her down. If that didn’t work, then he’d give her the space that she needed, but he couldn’t just let her go. ”Of course.” Kade knew what she meant. It just never seemed to stop, did it? There was just no way that Kade Trent and Brooklyn Mckenzie could just catch a break for once and have everything go smoothly. That had to be against some law, didn’t it? Maybe not, but at times like these it really did seem like it was. He watched her closely with those hazel eyes of his, and felt some sort of relief when he saw that she wasn’t going to get up and walk away from him. She was just going to find another way of getting away from him. By this time, Kade had sat up on the chair, and continued to watch with a slightly pained, sad expression lingering over his facial features. He really did hate this. He didn’t want Brooklyn to have to face this when it was mostly his problem, but if they were going to make this relationship work, she had to be a part of it in someway, right? Kade’s gaze met Brooklyn’s briefly as she stood and started to remove her belt from her slender middle.
The silence between them was alive with tension, something that wasn’t usually a part of their silences that they shared and Kade wasn’t liking it much. He wanted to know what was going through her mind. He knew better than to think that she had just accepted this news of him having a child with Christina Maddison like that, but he also knew better than to push Brooklyn too far too soon. So, he sat in silence as she pulled her red shirt up over her head and took off her skinny fitting jeans to reveal the bathing suit that she had worn underneath. Any other time, Kade would have been sure to let her know just how damn sexy she looked, but right now he felt that it was better to keep his mouth shut and not push his luck and set her off in someway or another. Her clothes were lightly tossed to him, along with a few words. ”Hold these.” As if he were about to do anything else. If he were the one that had a right to be pissed in this situation, he could see himself throwing her clothes into the pool after her, but he was the one that was walking on thin ice here, and he wasn’t going to do anything to make it worse. Kade remained silent still as she dove into the pool, clearly at home in the water. Kade knew this to be a truth. Brooklyn loved to surf, which meant that she was good when it came to water, obviously. He just wished that he hadn’t been the one to push her into it this time with his news. But, that’s how the ball rolls sometimes, and there really is nothing that you can do to stop it. Kade moved to the end of the lounge chair, leaning forward and bracing his elbows on his thighs as his dark hazel eyes watched Brooklyn’s swimming figure in the pool. He was now only a few feet from the pool’s edge himself, but he wouldn’t go any further. This went along with the part where he gave her space and didn’t push her into anything too fast. Though, as she resurfaced and started to float along on her back, still in silence, Kade wondered just how long it was going to last. He could wait for a very long time for her to come around, but eventually, something was going to have to be said. But, it turned out that he didn’t have to wait so long after all.
”How long did you know?” That was a reasonable question. And she didn’t even sound that upset, though Kade could see that she really was. Why else would she had ran into the pool? She was still stroking her way through the water and around the pool, not making eye contact with him. ”I’ve only known for a week,” he told her, hoping that she would see that he really hadn’t been hiding it from her, and that this had been the first time that they had really had time to talk about it. Kade wasn’t about to make the announcement to the entire camp that he and Chrissy had a daughter together. That wouldn’t happen. He just hoped that it stayed a little secret like this where only a very select few knew about it here and that would be the end of it. Somehow, Kade doubted that it would be like that, but there was no harm in hoping. ”You do know, that she obviously wants you back.” Wait, what? Brooklyn thought that Chrissy wanted Kade back? Kade hadn’t really thought about it that way, but he supposed that it could be a reason. Maybe, but not really. Chrissy wasn’t like that, at least, not the Chrissy he had known. Three years was a long time, though. Chrissy could use this, but what she wanted back was the Kade from those year ago, not the one that he was now. There were a lot of similarities between who he used to be and who he was, but there were too many difference to be able to say that they still knew each other. If she even wanted him back. ”And what do you want?” Again, what? Brooklyn sank beneath the water’s surface, and probably missed the quick drop of Kade’s jaw. Brooklyn really didn’t think that this changed things between them, did she? Kade regained himself quickly, clenching his jaw shut. Brooklyn was once again floating on her back, but Kade didn’t say a word, pretty well stunned that she would even let a thought like that cross her mind. Kade might be a player, but right now he wasn’t playing that game. Despite popular belief, he was a good guy and if he really wanted to be with Chrissy, he would just go be with Chrissy and not be playing with Brooklyn like this. He wasn’t the guy that messed with a girl’s emotions just for his own sick amusement, and he would never be that guy.
Finally, Brooklyn made her way back over to Kade, letting her elbows rest on the edge of the pool. There was a flicker of anger in her eyes, and Kade swore that he could hear some of it sounding in the tone of her voice as she spoke. ”I’m your girlfriend.. How am I supposed to do this. If that’s your kid, what does that make it to me? Where do we go from here, Kade?” He was glad to hear that she was still counting herself as he girlfriend. Brooklyn hadn’t given Kade reason to think that they were anything less than a couple just because he now had a child, but a guy could never really know for sure until he heard it. It was the questions that were reeling through his mind now. They were good questions that deserved good answers, answers that he hoped to God that he could answer well enough so that he could save this somehow. Kade wasn’t ready to give up on what he and Brooklyn had, and he wasn’t going to let something like this ruin it. ”First, I’m going to start off by saying that you’re what I want, Brooklyn. If I didn’t want you, I wouldn’t be here trying to make this work.” Sad, but true. Kade was known for running when things got to be too rough, too much to handle. Running was easier, but he wasn’t going to run from her. He couldn’t. ”Chrissy and I happened three years ago when we were very different people. Back then, we were good together, but now we don’t even know who each other is, but our daughter shouldn’t suffer because of it. I know what it’s like not to have a father, and if I can be that person for her, I want to be him.” Kade’s voice was soft, almost sweet. Kade’s father was still alive, but he wasn’t the father that Kade had grown up. That man was gone, replaced by someone that Kade hardly knew at all. Kaydence would probably have a step-father sooner or later, but Kade was still her real father, and while he had no idea how to be a dad and didn’t particularly like children, he could be a dad to his little girl if that meant she was spared of not having a dad at all. ”If you want to be someone to her, then be someone. If not, then don’t. I’m not going to tell you how to react to this, but I don’t want to lose you because of it, either.”
They were eighteen and nineteen years old. They shouldn’t be having this kind of conversation, but they were. Normal teens their age would be worrying about the next big party or date, not about what role they were going to play in a child’s life. Kade and Brooklyn were far from normal though, it seemed, and this is what they were having to face. Kade thought that his words made it pretty clear how he felt about it. He was going to try to be a part of Kaydence’s life, but he in no way expected Brooklyn to unless she wanted to be there. He wouldn’t think any less of her, and would respect the decision that she made. It might be hard to balance, if she chose not to become involved, the life he would have to start living when he finally did get to meet little Kaydence and start being the dad that he had apparently been for three years now and then turn around and be the boyfriend, but he would manage. He always found a way to pull those sort of things off, and he was sure that this would be no different. ”And as for where we go from here,” he said, letting a very small smile come to his lips now that the worst of it was over, ”I hope it’s somewhere good.” He found himself hoping a lot anymore, didn’t he? Kade used to be the type of person that didn’t put much stock in hope, and never let his hopes get too far ahead of himself. It did no good to hope because if you were let down, you watched your hopes fall time and time again. Now, he wasn’t so afraid of that, and he could only see one reason why that might have changed, and it Brooklyn. For some reason, the girl had that effect on him. She was good for him, and while they were both slightly damaged with some problems of their own to bring into this relationship, they really were good for each other. Kade was beginning to see it, and he wanted Brooklyn to see it there too so that this one little bump in the road didn’t totally ruin what they had going.

This was definately a tough situation. Though it didn't strike Brooklyn as odd, nor did she find it suprising that this would happen to her. Things had seemed to be going quite well actually between the two of them, and that had her thinking. It was Brooklyn and Kade that wered dating. Not some other random couple who've hardly had anything bad in their lives. The two of them together was pretty much only asking for something dramatic to come towards their way. That;s how it seemed to always be with Brooklyn. When she was happy or at least content with everything in her life, something seems to go wrong. She didn't freak out every time though, because it was to be expected. Just when she thought that maybe things would change for the better, this had to happen. She wasn't going to blame Kade for this. It definately wasn't his fault that Chrissy had decided to keep this huge information from her ex boyfriend. In her mind, that was a horrible thing to do. How could Chrissy, her councelor, decide to not tell her boyfriend that she had a child who was already three years old. It's really pretty much all her fault, and now she almost felt bad for kind of getting mad at Kade. Sometimes she just didn't know what to think, but this was one of the times that she had at least some sort of a clue. She wasn't going to blame Kade for something that wasn't his fault, because she knew what it felt like to be in a situation where she got all the blame. It wasn't too pleasant, but a person grows used to it after a while.
Lately she had been trying to put herself into other peoples shoes or situations. She knew what it felt like to loose many people, or to take blame, or to actually be the cause of many disasters, and she definately knew that she didn't want Kade to go through any of that any more. Of course he had already had his fair share of pain in his life, but anymore would be too harsh. Especially if she was the one to hurt him. She was okay with hurting peoples feelings normally, as harsh as it sounded, but she cared about Kade. If she did anymore to him then she would feel horrible and obviously blame herself. Now, she couldn't get into Kade's heart and find out how he was really feeling about this whole situation, but she really wished that she could. It was pretty hard to look inside of him within the first couple days that they met, though she really wanted to. As time went on and they connected more and more, he seemed to open up slowly. She would take it all in, normally just nodding. That was something that some might find odd about Brooklyn. When people were telling a story that could be found painful or sad, she hardly said anything. Sometimes saying one word can be all too much. Kade didn't seem to mind though, they still had that connection between them.
As Brooklyn was resting her arms on the side of the pool still, she looked into Kade's eyes. She could tell by just that one look that he actually felt bad about this situation and he didn't want to loose her. But maybe she was wrong. I mean, she can't be right about everything. That ran through her mind many times before Kade had finally said something in response to her many statements. ”First, I’m going to start off by saying that you’re what I want, Brooklyn. If I didn’t want you, I wouldn’t be here trying to make this work.” Well, that sounded true. Not to mention it was pretty cute. If Kade really was anything like Brookly she would know what he would do. Brooklyn was being difficult to talk to right now, and id she was Kade she would just give up if he wasn't that into her. Apparently he was, and only one other guy had actually tryed to make things work between the two of them. She knew that this relationship was way different though, for many reasons, but she wasn't going to think about that at this time. It made her feel more sure of their relationship. Normally, she needed alot of reassurance though she'd never admit it. Then came the explanation. ”Chrissy and I happened three years ago when we were very different people. Back then, we were good together, but now we don’t even know who each other is, but our daughter shouldn’t suffer because of it. I know what it’s like not to have a father, and if I can be that person for her, I want to be him.” It was a good thing that he wanted to be in the little girls life. It was a horrible thing not to have parents in your life, and the little child didn't deserve it whereas maybe Brookly did. Brooklyn would glance up towards Kade every now and then as he was speaking, though making sure to listen to what he had to say. ”If you want to be someone to her, then be someone. If not, then don’t. I’m not going to tell you how to react to this, but I don’t want to lose you because of it, either.” Good answer actually. He wasn't being desperate like some boys, and he was actually making it pretty damn clear he was going to be in the kids life whether Brooklyn like it or not. Which she didn't mind actually. She would mind if Chrissy's head was elsewhere however. She was already planning on coming out of the water. She wasn't going to be mad anymore, becuase after all he said there didn't seem to be a reason to.
At that moment, Brooklyn lifted herself out of the water, onto the ledge of the pool, her hands soon on her hips as she eyed down the boy sitting on the chair in front of her. A smile soon came to her face as she walked towards him. Her mind had been made up, and she was kind of suprised that they had made it through this. This wasn't something small, it was actually a really big deal, but Brooklyn decided to leave it at that. The girl had finally reached the chair and she was about to sit down beside him. Her waist tapped his side lightly in a motion for him to move over slightly. Once he had, she leaned against him, not caring if he got wet. "Buthead." She said, with a small giggle as she stratched her legs out in front of her, and shook her hair around a bit in attempts to dry it. Well, that obviously didn't work out to well, so she grabbed her towel and dryed it off for only a couple seconds. She threw the towel back onto the chair, and looked at a piece of her hair. It was back to it's natural, which hardly anyone ever saw. She either always curled it glamorously or straightened it. But now, it was pretty wavy and her make-up might of come partially off, which annoyed the hell out of her but she'd ignore that fact. Brooklyn's blue eyes, which Kade seemed to like, found their way back to Kade's face. Her hands had seemed to find their way to as they gently rested on both sides of his face, she kissed his nose lightly. Mostly because it was a cute gesture, and she was in a good mood suddenly. She giggled happily to herself, a quiet yet happy sigh followed as her gaze soon returned to the pool in front of her. Oh the evil things she could do.
She stood up once again, a mischevious grin played across her face. She was in the mood for being evil and having some fun. Brooklyn travelled happy in front of him as she grabbed the front of his shirt and tugged at it slightly. She was hoping that he would be willing to jump in with her, or else she would have to attempt to carry him or push him in. That would be hard to the girl who hardly weighed more then 100 pounds. Well 109 approximately. She wasn't one to weight herself and obsess over it all the time. She didn't really gain weight all that easily so she wasn't worried, for now at least. Brooklyn pouted her bottom lip slightly in means of looking innocent. Maybe he would now give in, she wanted to go swimming but not alone. If he didn't she could find other ways of having fun. She was actually kind of suprised that no one had came out and saw them there yet. From the loud talking to the jumping in the pool, she wouldn't be suprised if he thought they should meet another time or go somewhere else. Besides, he was the councelor right.

Had Kade ever really had a good relationship with another girl? Maybe, it was very possible that one could see it that way. There was Chrissy; they had been good together. Except, did that really count, seeing as it was three years ago and no where near what it would be now if they were together? Kade didn’t regret having been with Chrissy, and he didn’t wish that time away as if it had never happened, but he didn’t count it as a full fledged relationship. At least, it hadn’t been from where he had been standing at that point in time. They had been together by all technicalities, and in time he might have even learned to love her, but it just hadn’t been there. Then, there had been the relationship that he had had with Brittany Morgan. At the time, it had been good. They had gone head over heels, and had gotten themselves in way too deep with that relationship. That’s why he had run away from it the first time, and why he had decided to go back for the second. Kade and Brit had good memories together, and had a bond that was unexplainable, but now it was like none of that was even there. They ignored one another and made the best attempts at never letting the other into their minds. How could something that had supposedly been so good end up so bad? Then, just when Kade thinks that he finally has something that is absolutely and nothing but good with Brooklyn, something like this pops up and has the potential to tear it all away and make it yet another bad memory to add to the growing list of those that Kade seemed to be collecting. Brooklyn was the best thing to happen to him in a long time, and the thought that it could very easily be taken away from him right now was ripping through him. Sure, Brooklyn didn’t seem mad enough to break up with him then and there, but later on down the road, what would happen? Would she see that she had made a mistake in staying with him and all the baggage that came along with him and then leave? Or would it turn out better, and everything fall neatly into place without a struggle for a change? Kade wanted the second, and hoped like hell it wouldn’t turn out to be the first.
Again, he was struck with how unfair it was. Not just that they were teenagers still and had already been to hell and back through their own separate experience, or that they were having this kind of conversation, but the fact that Kade was putting yet another thing on Brooklyn’s shoulders. She and Kade had similar backgrounds, and Kade knew that there had to be times when Brooklyn felt the pressure from all that had happened weighing down on her. Kade felt it too, and sometimes it was all he could do not to crack beneath it all. Now, he had this to deal with along with everything else, and here he was sharing this trouble with Brooklyn when she already had a fair load of it herself. But it was the right thing to do, he was sure. Kade would have had to have told Brooklyn about Kaydence sooner or later, and if she was mad now, he could only imagine how pissed Brooklyn would be if he would have kept this from her and then her find out about it later on down the road. That, Kade didn’t see going over very well at all. At least by telling her now, he was sparing them both a lot of anger and pain and other awful feelings that one shouldn’t have to experience too often. He wanted this, what he had with Brooklyn, to go somewhere good. That’s what he had told her, and he most definitely meant it. Where somewhere good was, he really didn’t know. Right now, he was glad to take still being together over her stomping out angrily and saying they were done. So, where they were now was good, and it could get a whole lot better if they were able to make it through something like this without a bitter argument and hurtful words said. Which they had. Better was the logical next stop, and it looked like it was coming as Brooklyn hoisted herself up out of the pool and came to sit beside of Kade on the end of the chair.
Her waist tapped against him lightly, and he took the gesture to mean that she wanted him to move over some, so that’s what he did. There wasn’t a whole lot of room to sit on this part of the chair, but they seemed to fit there perfectly, her body leaning in against his. She was wet from having just been in the pool, which meant that the t-shirt and jeans that Kade was wearing were going to absorb some of that moisture, but Kade could really care less. As long as she was there with him, he didn’t care at all. ”Butthead.” Yeah, he deserved that, only he deserved in a meaner way instead of with the little giggle that Brooklyn said it with. Kade knew that he deserved many angry words and hurtful names, he always felt that he deserved from at least one person or another, but he wouldn’t dwell on it if Brooklyn was willing to let it go at that. He had told her, and that was the hardest part, right? Now, let it go, don’t worry about it, and just wait and see what happens next. That was a system that Kade was pretty good at working with, so he decided to follow it now and let himself relax a bit more as his girlfriend tried to dry her hair with a towel she had apparently brought along with her. Kade just sat and watched with a soft expression, head turned so that he could see her perfectly. Then, it was like her mood suddenly shifted as her hands came to rest on either side of his face and a light kiss was placed on his nose. Kade was a little surprised at first, but that faded almost instantly as a smile lit up his face. If Kade had words like “cute” in his vocabulary, then he definitely would have used it to describe what just happened. Along with being cute, it was also another one of those little, endearing things about Brooklyn that made him fall even more for the girl. That, and the way her eyes lit up with a mischievous gleam whenever she was plotting something within her mind, which Kade could see happening as she stood from the chair once again.
His eyes narrowed playfully as she took hold of the front of his shirt. Kade was good at reading people, and he had an eye for things filled with mischief. He had a pretty good idea of what she was putting together. She wanted him to go swimming with her. At night. Past curfew. Him and her, a rule breaking couple. Kade rose from the chair as she tugged on him lightly, a mischievous look of his own crossing his face. He wanted to in the pool with her. That, and God knew that he owed her something for being such a fantastic girlfriend and for being as understanding as she was. But, he was also a counselor, and she was a camper. When campers got caught swimming in the pool after curfew, it wasn’t really a huge a thing. They would be made to get out of the pool, of course, and then were walked back to their cabins, reminded of the rules, given a few little chores to do, and that was it. Kade himself probably wouldn’t get into too much trouble for it, as it seemed that counselors were given a little more slack on rules like that, but to be caught here with Brooklyn, well, that one might not go over as well. But, no one had come up yet, and really, what were the chances of them getting caught? ”All right,” he said with a little chuckle as he kicked off one shoe, and then took a small step back to get the other. As his bare feet met the cool pavement around the pool, he realized that he hadn’t put socks on before heading out that night. Just one less thing to worry about taking off, then. ”But if anyone asks, I thought you were drowning and I was trying to save your ass.” A playful wink was cast Brooklyn’s direction as Kade pulled his t-shirt up over his head and off his body and tossed it to the chair behind him. Swimming in jeans wasn’t his favorite, but there was no way in hell he was going to get caught swimming in his boxers if someone were to catch them here. Sure, if it were just him and Brooklyn, he wouldn’t care, but swimming in boxers wouldn’t do much to support his cover up story now, would it? Neither would kicking off his shoes and taking off his t-shirt, but Kade was a quick thinker and he could come up with something for that. Then, before he could even give Brooklyn time to think, Kade stepped forward, scooped her up in arms and set both of them into the water in one quick motion. This night had really taken a turn for the better.

Something that Brooklyn might think was a good thing, others would most likely find it bad. She liked the fact that she could really hide what she was hiding, especially when she didn't want anyone to know. As of now, she was kind of scared about this whole situation, though she didn't want to let Kade know. She almost felt like she would be letting him down if he knew how she really felt. She wasn't mad at him or anything, because he couldn't of known. Though, she would've been really mad if he had actually known and had been hiding it from her this whole time. That would have just been sneaky, and rude. Which she didn't like. Even though that could be taken slightly hypocrytical. She was sneaky, and could be rude if she thought that someone deserved it. It was wierd, but that's just how she felt. Things between the two of them were still good, thank God. But things between her and her councelor just got a whole lot worse. She used to think she was alright. Mostly, she though she was annoying only because she made her wake up early to go eat breakfast and such, only because it's her job. She hadn't really had the chance to get to know her that well. Apparently Kade liked her though, so she must be somewhat decent. She wasn't about to find out though. She didn't want to blurt something out, and ruin everything. Chrissy might just have those feelings for him still, and Brooklyn wasn't about to remind her about him. Also, she might be mad at Brooklyn and turn her in, saying Kade didn't do anything. She always seemed to think about the worst scenario's first. It was the best way to be prepared.
Kade treated her so well. It was sincere and unlike her other relationship. She was so caught up in it all, she thought he really cared about her deeply. Even if he did, she didn't understand how he could just get up and leave her like that, without a call or a note, or anything. Up to this day, she hadn't talked to him. If he came back, she had no clue what she would say to him or what she would do. The feelings wouldn't come back because he abandoned her, and that was something she couldn't have again in her life. Too many had left her, and she wasn't about to have it again. She was extremely scared that she was going to push Kade away without meaning it. She tended to to that, it was like an instinct. Which sucked pretty bad on hers and other behalf. Right now, she didn't want to think of any of those bad thoughts. Kade needed her at the moment, or so she thought, so she was just going to have their fun and deal with the other stuff when the time came to it. Though, she could ask some questions, right. "What's her name?" She asked out of pure curiosity. It would kind of suck if her name was like Franceska or something. Awkward. She was hoping that it was something normal, but she could deal. Brooklyn could say that she was really glad he was going to go into the water with her. She had no clue how long they could stay out here however, but they always seemed to make everything fun. ”But if anyone asks, I thought you were drowning and I was trying to save your ass.” The boy had declared to her. With a smirk, she replied."Deal." Then she had noticed Kade taking off his shirt. Well, she could easily say he was one good looking boy. Brooklyn stood on her tippy-toe's, so their faces were almost touching. "You're kind of cuteee." She said with a girlish giggle, yet she bit her bottom lip seductively.
Before she knew it, the boy had picked her up and they were in the water. It happened pretty quickly, and she was sort of laughing in mid air. She coughed a few times to get the water out of her throat, then stood up completely in the more shallow end of the pool. She dove under the water once more, only to come up a few seconds later, to run a hand through her now wet hair. It was very nice and refreshing. Her blue eyes made their way to Kade, and she floated on her back slowly until her head hit his stomach, and she was looking upwards at him, with a smirk. Eventually she turned over and noticed he was still wearing jeans. Well that was something new. She knew how that felt too, a bit annoying. "Jeans?" She said standing up in front of him now, resting a hand on his buckle. "So I guess we aren't skinny dipping.." Brooklyn stated, with raised eyebrows, and her hand slowly trailing up her thigh, to rest on her hip. She said with a playfun grin on her face. She wasn't planning on it, but she wanted to see what his reaction would be. Oh, how she loved being flirty. Though now she wasn't making an effort to impress him or anything, it was just natural, and all in good fun. That is how things started with them in the first place. They would flirt uncontrollably, even though they weren't expecting anything to come from it. Mostly, they found each other attractive, well she thought he was incredibly sexy, and wouldn't mind hooking up or something. But it turned out to be more then that, and she had no complaints. She was very happy at the moment, and it would suck if it had to end. Though, she would just miss him then the reunion would be exciting and romantic all over again.

Lucky was not a word that one would generally use to describe Kade Trent. Maybe it used to be a few years ago, but now the world would probably be unlucky, which isn’t really hard to understand. First, his brother dies, then his whole family goes haywire. Then he starts losing one person after another, friends falling away from him and him seeming to find himself as a totally different person than he used to be. He had his deal with drugs that went further than what he meant for it to, and then there are a few other problems that he had run into during his stay in North Carolina that had to be eliminated. Now, he has a three-year-old daughter and a whole world or other troubles that he had to deal with. Unlucky seemed to fit him well most times, but there were other times that Kade was able to see where luck was on his side for a change. Like the night that he and Brooklyn had gotten together. There were many reasons why they shouldn’t have gotten that far, but they had and they hadn’t let anything get in their way this far. Then, there was now when he could have lost her completely, but instead she took the news of him having a daughter rather well. Brooklyn could have done a number of things that would have been considered as bad reactions, but she didn’t. She had let off her steam about it, and now she was warming up to him again, seeming to see that it really wasn’t his fault that he had to spring it on her like this, and therefore there really wasn’t a reason to be upset with him. Yes, it had taken two to make that little girl a possibility, and Kade could be seen as being at fault for that, but Brooklyn knew that Kade had been with other women, just as he knew she was with other guys. She got that, and while it wasn’t the best situation, she accepted it, and him, for what it was. Kade considered himself to be very lucky just for that. That, and the fact that Brooklyn was even seeming to take an interest in the child.
”What’s her name?” It was a simple question, but it one that was reassuring to hear it come from Brooklyn. Kade had no doubt that she was probably scared or confused about this situation, but she was making an effort not to show it and to take an interest in it, and it meant something to him. ”Kaydence,” he said, the name sounding strange to him for some reason. It was a fairly common name, one that belonged to a few other girls that Kade knew, but to hear it in his own voice when asked what his daughter’s name was, it was strange. That, and knowing that the spelling of her name was different, made to resemble his name in a way. It was a pretty name, though, and it fit the little girl that he had only seen in that one picture well. Kade didn’t know what her middle name was, and he assumed that Chrissy had given her the last name of Maddison. Wow, some father he was. He only knew what his kid’s first name was for sure. That thought bothered him, and he made a mental note to sit down with Chrissy, if only for a minute, and figure out what the child’s full name was. They hadn’t really discussed much of anything since she had told Kade about Kaydence, but it was getting to the point where they were going to have to start talking about how Kade was going to work into the little girl’s life. Chrissy seemed to want Kaydence to have a father figure in her life, but Kade didn’t know how he could just step in and be that person. He wanted to, though, and he would figure it out eventually. Hopefully. Kade had always thought that when he became a father he would be older and he would have his own father to go to for advice. So much for that. He had fathered this child when he was sixteen, and his father hadn’t spoken one word to him for almost two years. Then, there was the thing that he thought that he would at least still be with the mother of the child. That one had gone out the window, too.
Those thoughts hadn’t stayed with him long, because he and Brooklyn were now in the warm water of the swimming pool. It always seemed to Kade that swimming at night was better because the water in the pool was always warmer for some reason. Brooklyn had come up to the surface coughing a little, obviously having gotten some water as they had gone under. Kade, having been the one to decide they were going in so suddenly, had been prepared for it and came up from beneath the water taking a small gasp of air as he cleared his now wet, dark blonde hair away from his face. When dry, his hair didn’t seem so long because he kept it spiked a lot of the time, but when it was wet, one could see just how long it would be, or at least how long the bangs would be. He laughed a little as she went under the water again, only to resurface and float on her back. They had both moved to the shallow end of the pool, and as Kade watched her floating with his hazel eyes, he couldn’t help but to grin. It was simple little things like this that they did together, the way that she had agreed with his plan to get them out of trouble if they would get caught out here without any hesitation, and how she had said, “You’re kind of cute,” the way that she had that he was really beginning to love about this relationship. That, and along with the fact that she was so understanding of him and all his imperfections and problems, of course. Again, he saw that he was lucky to have her, and that coming to this camp wasn’t the worst thing that could have happened to him this summer. It was turning out to be the best. If not for Camp Brunswick, they would have never met, and that would have really been a shame. He stood still, letting her float around in the water until she bumped into his stomach gently. Kade could have moved and let her keep floating by, but he hadn’t wanted to. He seemed to always want her close, and now was no different.
”Jeans?” So her blue eyes had caught that. Kade could feel the denim grow heavier as they entered the water, but had really not paid a lot of attention to it. It wasn’t like he didn’t know that swimming in his jeans would be a bit uncomfortable like that; he’d been in the water with jeans on plenty of times before. Even though he had good reasoning for it this time, he would much rather not have them on. But, he didn’t hate that Brooklyn’s hand came to rest on his buckle because of him wearing them, either. ”So I guess we aren’t skinny dipping..” She was good at this part, and she had to know it. Kade and Brooklyn’s relationship had started out as them just flirting and playing around. It had been something that Kade had learned to look forward to every day, just because it was fun and light and always interesting. And it didn’t hurt that they connected on the level that they did and all that flirting had ultimately led to them getting together. They were both good flirts, and that was what made it so much fun. Now though, it carried a little extra meaning. ”No, not tonight,” he said, acting kind of disappointed as he sighed, which he really kind of was. No guy in his right mind would turn down a chance to go skinny dipping with Brooklyn McKenzie, and Kade was sorry that he really couldn’t do that right there with her. There was nothing stopping them, but that would be really, really difficult to explain if they wouldn’t get caught out here. ”But we’ll definitely have to do that sometime,” he added playfully as he let his arm move around her waist and gently pull her closer to him. He kissed her forehead sweetly before looking down into her brilliant blue eyes. ”Thank you for being so great about this. I really am a lucky guy to have you,” he said, his voice much softer and sweeter than it had been just moments before. Thinking that he was lucky was one thing, but saying it out loud was another. But, this time, it didn’t feel like a bad thing. It felt like it was finally the truth.
