Things weren’t the same with Jay. Nothing seemed right. He had arrived here less then 24 hours ago and already he felt like shit. Waking up early wasn’t his thing, being away from home wasn’t his thing, and having no friends here that he knows of wasn’t his thing. Summer was a time to spend with his friends. Summer was the time to sleep in and party late. And at this stupid camp with there stupid time rules and such, his plans for summer weren’t going to happen as he thought. Everything just seemed so strict around here and how everybody was always looking over your shoulder. It wasn’t like he hated attention or anything, it was the exact opposite. But being deprived away from home for the summer and not seeing his normal friends and having to start all over during summer at what seemed to be a very strict summer camp; it was just to much to handle at this point. You might think that Mr. Moore was being a little dramatic, and you might be right. But Jay just wasn’t used to things not going this imperfectly; especially during summer.
But one thing that Jay couldn’t complain about is how pretty it was here. Everything just seemed to have come out from one of those little kids dreams about going away to summer camp. Right out of a story book. Tree’s, lakes, fresh air. Jay was never really an out-door-sy kind of person. But maybe, since there wasn’t much to do here besides be outside, things could change. And besides, his skin which normally had a nice glow to it had faded and he was quite pale. He needed a tan, I mean, he had to be the hottest guy around here, and he had to live up to that name, of course, of course.
Brushing some hair out of his eyes, he pulled his hood over his head and blasted the black ipod he gripped in his hand. He wanted anything but to be here right now. Anything. He really should have chosen to stay in the smelly, dark, basement. Walking a long he saw a few people, and normally Jay would be the type running up to all of them. But today he would just walk and let the reality of this summer sink in. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad, maybe he’s just being pathetic and over dramatic. But Jay’s normally pathetically over dramatic, so this drama queen act isn’t anything new. But of course he’s just walking around sulking to himself. If anybody came up to him he would put on the fakest of smiles and pretended to have all the energy in the world.
Everyone knows that Jay’s the best fake-er in the world. He wouldn’t want anybody to really see him all down and depressed. Jay has a image, even before he meets people. He always wants to come off as strong and confident, happy and easy to talk to. When he’s down and depressed he has this idea that people will get a horrible impression of him. And everybody knows; first impressions mean everything. The only way that a person interested in talking to him would get the hint that he’s sad is by his body language right now as he was walking a long the park path. But don’t expect it to stay like that if you’re planning on asking him what’s wrong. You’ll just get one of his famous smiles, a push back of his hair, and a shrug with a laugh saying ‘What’s wrong? Nothing’s wrong. I’m perfect’.
Blasting his ipod to ‘My Band’ by D-12 he mouthed along some of the words. It was a little bit of an inside joke. 2 years ago; or whenever that song was released, Jay got so existed and showed it to his friends. Laughing, he explained to them how it pretty much described them. Jay, being the cocky main man eminem, and them just being the jealous backup guys who nobody can ever get the names straight. Oh, home. How he missed it already. And it wasn’t even the fact that where he was living before was the longest time his family had ever stayed anywhere. It was just that the move was during summer, and he couldn’t even stay at his new house, he had to stay at a camp during the summer and a boarding school during the summer. Shaking his head he kept the thought there that anything can change in a heartbeat and tomorrow could be the best day of his life.
